Nigerian publisher of several award winning authors, Emotion Press has launched an affordable publishing package as a form of palliative against the economic effect of the Coronovirus outbreak to writers of African descent. According to a statement released by the Public Relations unit of the publishing house, ‘the affordable publishing package is the company’s strategy towards subsidizing the cost of publishing for writers of African origin who are at this difficult time economically challenged but still seek the all-important written form of self-expression. We love an original African story and it is our vision to continue to publish our stories across all genres of literature to high acclaim.’

In 2018, Emotion Press published Soji Cole’s Embers, which won that year’s Nigeria Prize for Literature and was also acclaimed by Daily Trust Newspapers and Channels Television as one of the ten best books of the season. The company has continued to publish several of its authors to high acclaim, some of them winning international grants and literature awards. Of worthy note is Ufuoma Bakporhe, whose debut novel, Lettars from an slowpoke, was published to high acclaim by the company in 2014, and had just again, recently, won the 2019 Awele Creative Trust award.
The company continues to dedicate itself to discovering new voices, as they open there submissions window via its official website – www.emotionpress.com.ng – to manuscripts across all genre of literature. The Ibadan based publishing house, according to its statement, has also taken appropriate measures in place against the spread of COVID-19 outbreak, as its entire staff continues to work from home. It stated that the publishing company remains very digital savvy, as its members of staff has been interacting online and delivering to clients against all odds.
