Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker representing Kaduna central district at the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, has warned that weak governments could be overthrown due to “the economic and social fallout of COVID-19.”

Shehu Sani cautioned that the failure of the government to handle the current situation could result in revolutionary insurrections, civil strife, increasing levels of violent crime and widening the fault lines of unstable societies and nations.

Lagos, the country’s commercial hub has experienced a high crime rate in the last couple of days with armed robbers taking over most parts of the capital.

Many Nigerians lamented the government’s inability to supply the people with relief materials after it declared a complete lockdown two weeks ago.
And the former lawmaker believes that:-

“The Economic and Social fallout of COVID-19 can lead to overthrow of Governments especially in weaker nations,” he tweeted. Not mentioning Nigeria . “Revolutionary insurrections, civil unrest,rising violent crime rates and widening the fault lines of fragile societies and nations. #CoronavirusOutbreak #CoronaVirusUpdate.”
