The crumbling of economic activities by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is becoming so alarming following the lockdown as rats have allegedly eaten up over N7 million inside an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

According to BBC, some technicians who arrived to fix a malfunctioning ATM machine in the Indian state of Assam, who shocked after opening the machine.

After opening the money machine, the technicians discovered that notes worth more than 1.2m rupees (£13,300; $17,600) which is equivalent to N7million (at N400 per $1) had been shredded – and the suspected culprits are rats.

The Hindustan Times, however, report that the India Police who confirmed the story said that the rodents probably entered the machine through a hole for wiring.

Meanwhile, pictures of the chewed cash at the State Bank of India branch in Tinsukia district were widely shared on Twitter.

My reasoning is, in Nigeria, atm will not break down for so long for rats to eat ₦7m. And we are not that dirty to have so many rats, least not the parts of Nigeria I know.
