These guys are everywhere. No one could sleep in my neighborhood last night. The landlords had to mobilize youths armed with cutlass and other light weapons.

how far? did they come?

it can only happen in the west. in the north especially Christian or Muslims dominated areas in the Urban centers can not be easily invaded by criminals in such a manner. the residents are usually battle ready for higher invaders like Fulani herders not small small boys. they can't even try it in the south south or south east, you can't invade urban areas like that.

I disagree. You'd be right if the said robbers procured the guns themselves. But most of these guys are hoodlums that were used during elections to snatch boxes and cause violence. They were given sophisticated weapons by politicians and those politicians don't bother to retrieve the weapons from them.

u are right OP with the old-ife road.i had this eye-withness experience around August last year....and i know it will be worse now.
I was scouting around for another branch for my shop in ibadan so i had to stay with a family in ibadan at old-ife road.stayed about 3.5 weeks before i ran one afternoon back to my village without taking my car or luggages.
Its always difficult to sleep at night...ooohh the watchmen keeps blaring their horn like whistles-jolting you outta your sleep every min-they are always parading,trying to alert people...never sleeping!!¡!!
A night before i took to my heels,i just heard one of these togolese nightmen,struggling with another,crying in pain as if being butchered or stabbed....but he wouldnt let go of the theif,still whilstling hard n shouting 'ole,olee,oolee' with/in togolese accent.
I froze in my bed,find better jeans wear found a sweater n crawled to my host's room-the mummy.the daddy of the house too was up and was trying to call the police.the whole neighbourhood was wide-awake,whistles upon whistles......
We just heard a very loud thud in the compound...heard about 7men....i was just dumbfounded!!!it was almost 6am then ooo!they were not in a rush and the police no gree come ooo.Fortunately,they decided to jump into the next compound.it had 4 flats.maybe they had an intel ooo....we dnt know.they just started shooting sporadically at the flat downstairs-using stone,harmmer,brick...anything to trynna break that iron door-shouting for the owner of the flat to come open the door.i was scared...they all got kids in there-the families.so,they started with the other flats too.soo much noise they made.around 6:23,they left,threatning to come back.i knew had they gained entrance,who knows what would have happened to those families.
My host-the mommy was robbed infront of the house in the afternoon around 3pm prior that week.she was expecting a delievery....so she opened the gate to wait and after about 10secs,she said 2guys on okada stopped by the gate,shot in the air and told her to start dropping everything she had on her-wristwatch,gold chain,earings,phones,her wallet...they even almost chopped off her finger when her wedding ring wouldnt come off on time.they were gold bands inscribed with her name on them.
PS-The police came around 10am,well after the robbers had left,heard the togo man eventually died-his cuts were much.He was deeply matcheted.na the next day i commot say i wan buy something for the next street.u cnt open the gate in the afternoon or they come in through the roof.my host have been robbed twice on a sunday while they were in church and a weekday when they were out.
This is an eye-withness experience!!!!!!!!!!!

That idi ape way op day talk na dangerous place. Where ashawo people plenty. Funny enough police for testing ground at idi ape knows all the criminals but they act non challant. Best thing park to a neighborhood that is clean and security conscious than a compound with many people that will be opening gate up and down
