Kumuyi grew up in the Apostolic church and was a pastor there before he left to start his church.

The founder of the Apostolic church got his revival from the 1930 crusade of apostle babalola.

Pastor Kumuyi grew up in Apostolic Faith Church before starting Deeper life. Apostolic Faith church was founder in 1906 by Mother Crawford in USA during the Azusa Revival.
