Yesterday, I lost most of my files audios, software and videos. I don't know how it happened. The i still have the file folders but the content of the folders are missing. i tried the view option to show hiding folders noway. I did not delete any file. the recycle bin is still the same. Also, i noticed the size of the hard disk is still the same. It did not reduce.

I am using windows 10.

Try scan the folder with smadav antivirus and use it to unhide any hidden files!! This might help

First you'll open "command prompt" also known as cmd.

Type cmd in the box close to the start menu -> right click on it and select run as administrator (a black command page will pop up)

Let's assume the files are on your hard disk (the drive letter will be letter D or letter E). Note whichever letter appears on your disk because you'll use it in the next line.

Now type this command: attrib -h -r -s /s /d G:\*. * (Replace G with the drive letter where you'd like to show hidden files). Pay attention to the letters and spacing in the command and type it in as is.

Click Enter and it's done. Your files will re-appear (you can delete the shortcuts and leave the original documents).

All your files are on the hard drive and if you gonna change it you should keep your previous one and show it to the specialist. Moreover it's better not to allow your hard to get dead. So if you have some problems with it - change it immediately because it's much more cheaper then recovering files from dead hard drive. Check here if you don't know wich one do you need for replacement.

Please I discover that all my photos, video and all other documents have changed to LEZD file. I use windows 10professional. Please what can I do to have access to my data?
