- Old buildings in Nigeria have both colonial
and historical significance

- Some of them with a colonial touch are
Christ Church Cathedral in Lagos and Lagos
Colonial Secretariat

- On the other hand, they speak on pre-
colonial times as could be seen with Oba of
Benin Palace

Architectural designs are some of the
attractions that draw tourists into a country.
And one peculiar thing about them is that they
speak about the time they are built- in.

Some of the very revered buildings in Nigeria
are Christ Church Cathedral in Lagos, Jaekel
House in Lagos, Lagos Colonial Secretariat, first
European storey building in Nigeria, Badagry,
Kajuru Castle in Kaduna, Oba of Benin Royal
Palace in Benin, and Lugard Hall in Kaduna.

1. Christ Church Cathedral in Lagos

It is one of the oldest cathedrals in Africa.
This building was built on March 29, 1867, and
the cathedral was officially established in 1869.
