The authorities of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University) are trying to force final-year students of the College of Medicine, Faculty of Clinical Medicine, to secretly resume school on or before the 25th of May.

In the circular attached below, it bears the details of activities the school secretly wants to carry out.

According to an insider, the students were told that the medical students hostel will be closed, hence they’d have to find themselves temporary accommodation outside town as to prepare for their mock and final MBBS exams.

This move totally violates the instructions of both the state and federal government on closure of schools in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If I may ask, how do the school authorities expect students living outside Anambra to make it to Awka considering the interstate lockdown/restrictions.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Greg Nwakoby and the Dean College of Medicine, Prof Emeka Ojiyi are now under fire for thinking of secretly resuming during this lockdown.

U don't know much about medical school.
I'm sure it's the other way round, the medical students and their parents pressurizing the school for resumption.
After spending so many years in school and u only have the final exam to write then corona comes, they have to push to write the papers and escape undergraduatehood.

All year long, I crave for some good time to spend with my wife and kids as I'm almost always away (I school outside my state of residence). Now, I've got all the time in the world and I'm crying to return to school.

Medschool is extremely stressful, perhaps the most stressful program in the university but most medical students would rather face the stress until graduation than enjoy a loooooong break.

I recall when we were writing our Path-Pharm MB. That exam was quite stressful, the most stressful for me since I got into the training. You'd imagine that students would plead for an extended break after the exam but I tell you, this wasn't the case. Some of my colleagues wanted just one week!

So, I agree with your submission. It may be the case. I only feel for those that are currently outside the state. Too bad.

[/b]Thing is, government should begin to look at measures that can be put in place to contain (and live with) the virus. No government should plan on completely eradicating this virus before schools and other affairs are recalled....this would be an endless wait.[b]

We must get our societies running again as soon as possible. Just like HIV, COVID-19 may not disappear.

What have you ever contributed to the world, if you have little knowledge about an area, its pertinent that you shut your gob, than just ranting on things that you clearly don't know about.
Development of vaccines is over to scientists and some doctors who specialise in that field and mind you that will take almost a decade of training before reaching that feat.
