Irregular Migration To Europe May Increase Due To Easing Of Lockdown - Europol by deleson: 9:08am On May 24, 2020
The easing of the coronavirus lockdown across Europe may increase the exploitation of irregular migrants by organised criminals, EU’s policing agency has warned.

In its latest report, Europol noted that irregular migration slowed down during the coronavirus lockdown but it would increase after the restrictions are lifted. “A loosening of travel and movement restrictions is likely to result in an increasing movement of irregular migrants… as they have been largely unable to make movements during the lockdown,” Europol said.

The report stated that there could be a rise in the exploitation of migrants, particularly in the agricultural sector and the sex work industry.
