In fulfilment of the promise of the Governor of Rivers State, Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Rivers State ministry of transport has flagged off the Rivers State Covid-19 free bus service , to ameliorate the biting effect of the outbreak of covid-19 on residents of Rivers State.

The first phase of the free transport service with 28 luxury buses would operate within Portharcourt, Obio/Akpor, Eleme and Oyigbo local government areas.

Flagging off the Free transport service at Rivers State Government House Car part on Monday, The Honourable Commissioner , Rivers State ministry of Transformation, Hon Sam Ejekwu , declared that the use of nose mask will be a compulsory requirement for access into the free buses, which will also adhere to the directive of government on physical distancing inside vehicles.

The honorable commissioner of transport said the provision of the free transport service is a well thought out intervention program of the governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, that is not only intended to cushion the hardship associated with the outback of covid-19, but to also contain the spread of the virus in Rivers State.
