Nigeria @ 60: CYMS Calls For Patriotism

As Nigeria Celebrates her 60th year anniversary, the Director General of the Committee Of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization ( CYMS ), Comrade Obinna Nwaka has called for renewed commitments towards national development and encouraged Nigerians to remain patriotic, support government policies and programs so that together we can build the Nigeria of our dreams.

He said this in a press statement issued to newsmen to mark the 60th Anniversary of Nigeria, while congratulating Nigerians on the journey so far, he said as true Nigerians, patriotism should be our major concern to enhance National development where our unborn children and next generation can be proud of.

"In years to come, you will be asked, what is your contribution to National development?
We all have a duty to play irrespective of our class to protect our National heritage and common goal.
We must do away with tribal and religious sentiment to make this country a better place for all"

Nigeria is a country where more than 70 per cent of the population is less than 30 years old, hence, youth has to be part of the answer to confronting today’s challenges. Modernizing the government, creating jobs, building a human capital all require a new way of thinking.

As we continue to advocate for a win/win partnership between youthful idealism and the political experience or wisdom that comes with age, let us remain committed to our patriotism “ do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are to build the Nigeria of our dream.”

"If you want to see your country become the best version of itself, think about how you can invest in your community.
If you see a school which does not serve its students, ask yourself how you can volunteer to tutor students there.
If you see a community with no access to water or sanitation, think about how you can bring together the community to address it.
If you see other young people who lack the basic skills to get a job, think about how you can help them.
A country’s strength lies in the cohesion of its people. “you cannot use one finger to collect flour.”

And prayed God to continually bless Nigeria with peace and prosperity.
