How can someone detache himself in the things of the world and still survive.

In a poor continent like Africa. there are some things you need to do just to survive or to eat . it might be illegal or sinful, but you do them just to survive.

Is living a worldly life to survive a sin??

Whether in Africa, Europe, America or Australia Sin is sin..

We can't stay away by our power . All we need do is to connect to GOD through JESUS CHRIST. His Word ( The HolyBible) is available to guide and Equip us with the Grace to stay away from evil..

I don't know if you are aware of it but you asked two different questions there. The first, how can one live a holy life is explained in the passage below from the Bible.

Matthew 5 vs 43-48 (ERV)

43. “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[k] and hate your enemy.’
44. But I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who treat you badly.
45. If you do this, you will be children who are truly like your Father in heaven. He lets the sun rise for all people, whether they are good or bad. He sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong.
46. If you love only those who love you, why should you get a reward for that? Even the tax collectors do that.
46. And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than anyone else. Even the people who don’t know God are nice to their friends.
48. What I am saying is that you must be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Christ has commands that you, as His follower, should Love their neighbor - not just those who you like but your enemies as well - exactly as you love your own self. So, in response to your question, to be holy, you must love your neighbor, including your enemies, just as you love your own self.

As for the second question there, not loving the things of the world, well the things of the world refers to what exactly? The things of the word point to those things which go against the commandments He has given all those who chose to follow Him - anything that stands contrary to His teachings, His commandments. e.g Bribery and corruption, acts which promote unfairness in every way.
