Dare To Be Like Joseph Series Pt 5: Fulfilling Your Dreams Despite All Odds – 2 by Lovelash: 9:12am On Jun 07, 2020
BE PATIENT
God gave Joseph two dreams when he was seventeen years of age; however, He did not give him the time of fulfillment and destination. Joseph accepted and believed the dream and held on to it for He knew the giver cannot lie and that no matter what happens God would surely bring the dream to come to pass. So, he waited patiently on God for the fulfillment of the dreams. He had no anxiety, no worries, no complaints and murmuring, and no bitterness against God. He became a prime minister in Egypt in fulfillment of the dreams when he was thirty years of age, Genesis 41:46. This implies it took thirteen years interval for the dream to become a reality, and it even happened in a strange land that no one could have ever thought possible.

Just as God had given Joseph dreams about his great future, so also had He given many of us dreams about our life and the future that we are so sure and certain would come to pass. However, we were not informed of the time and location of fulfillment. Unfortunately, many of us have taken it upon ourselves to assume or figure out the time and place we believe the dreams ought to be fulfilled and everything had ended in frustrations, regrets, depression, and hopelessness.

The Eternal and Sovereign God of creation is a God of law and order. He operates in His own ways and time which are very different from our own time and ways for everything, 2 Peters 3:8. Psalm 90:4. He works out things according to His purpose and time, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. God is always exact concerning His timing; His timing is never late and never early. He does and makes everything beautiful in His appointed time, Ecclesiastes 3:11.

Not knowing for sure the time certain things would happen in our lives is one major challenge responsible for restiveness, desperation, anxieties, depression, worries, and lack of inner peace that has resulted in anxiety-related sicknesses and deaths. We humans are always in a hurry; we want things to happen in our ways and time. Ironically, things ordained by God don’t work out that way. All of nature points to the fact that everything has its allotted times and seasons which they comply with. God has His good reasons why He did not put us in the know of the time some things would happen in our lives.

To dare to be like Joseph is to be able to wait patiently on God to perform and perfect all that pertains to us in His own time. Just know that when He gives a dream, it is a certainty. Yours is to accept and believe. Good things take time. There is a need for everyone who wants to do the will of God to trust Him and wait for His perfect time. The impatience of many to wait for God’s time for the realization of their dreams has made many loose out of their purpose in life and had even lead to the early death of many. Some become so impatient to wait that in anger they abandon their dreams and God who gave them the dreams thinking God cannot do what he had revealed he would do for them. Some like Sarah courted trouble for themselves by fashioning out other ways to make their dreams come to reality because of impatience, it ended in regrets. Some due to many years of waiting for the fulfillment of their dreams became so frustrated and committed suicide when at the edge of their breakthrough. Suicide is not an option at all. Just be a little more patient, all things will be perfectly well in due season and you would have every reason to REJOICE AND PRAISE GOD.

Don’t because of seeming delays cut corners; there is no short cut to the fulfillment of God’s given dreams and promises.

God gave the dream and He alone knows how He would bring it to pass. But be sure that He will make everything beautiful in His own time – God’s time is the best. There is no time that is too late for you to achieve your dream. Just keep on thanking God for His faithfulness and remain abiding in His love and also obey His Words. Be patient, “For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise,” Hebrews 10:36.

ONE’S TALENTS COUNTS

Although, we have pointed out the fact that the giving and fulfillment of any God-given dream depends largely on God which is the simple truth, yet there is an important part/role each individual has to play towards the fulfillment of his or her dreams. This has to do with utilizing whatever talents God has gifted you with as the case of Joseph reveals. Joseph was given two great dreams. He was also given the talent of dream interpretation. He acknowledged and believed in his dream as well as in his God-given talent of dream interpretations. He did not despise this talent as something unimportant or trivial in comparison to the two big dreams. He put his talent to effective use while waiting for the fulfillment of his dreams. He interpreted correctly the dreams by two of his co prisoners. It was the disclosure of him as a dream interpreter by the Chief Butler that made him to be brought from the prison to Pharaoh’s palace and interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams that brought him to the place of the fulfillment of his dreams Genesis 41: 1-57.

To dare to be like Joseph is to know that while the fulfillment of the divine dreams rested on God, the utilization of the God-given talents meant to help us realize our dreams depends on us using the talent we have and not hiding it. The truth we should know is that when God gives one a dream, He also gives one a talent or more to bring one’s dreams to pass. Had it being that Joseph buried his talent of dream interpretation the fulfillment of his dreams would have been hampered. The reason why some dreams are not fulfilled is the simple fact that the dreamers ignore or belittle the accompanied talents meant to catapult the dreamer to the place of fulfillment of destiny while resting on the oars of the big dream. Many times the small, possible things we can do with our talents are left undone because we think they are trivial or unimportant and the result is that we miss out on the dream. Do you know that most of the renowned world footballers were discovered while playing street football in their neighborhood; same with most of the famous musicians who started singing or playing musical instruments in their local churches. Most of those who have lofty dreams of becoming well-known footballers or musicians who while dreaming of big opportunities and refused to use their talents in places considered unimportant have failed to become the renowned persons they had dreamt of being. Zechariah advised we should not despise the day of small beginnings, Zechariah 4:10. Start with what you have. Showcase your talent anywhere you are as Joseph showcased his own in prison. Don’t neglect your talents if you want to fulfill your dreams.

If you have a talent, don’t hide it. Use it for the benefit of others because you can’t tell what God would use to announce you. As opportunities present themselves, use them to showcase your talent, don’t wait for a perfect time, and showcase your talent at every given opportunity.

BE KIND TO PEOPLE THAT COME ACROSS YOUR WAY

The Scripture tells us that while Joseph was put into prison unjustly God was with him and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. The keeper put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners including the Chief Butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, Genesis 39:20-23; 40 1-4. Joseph was caring and concerned enough about the other prisoners to observe a change in their countenance in one of the days he came to check on them. He asked what the matter was and they told him it was about dreams they had. He willingly interpreted the dreams for them which came true as he had interpreted, Genesis 40:5-21.

It turned out that the butler whose dream he interpreted and told would be set free was indeed set free and he was the one God used to bring Joseph to the notice of Pharaoh who was looking for someone to interpret his dreams. Pharaoh ordered Joseph to be released from the prison and be brought to the palace. He interpreted the dreams perfectly and this led to the fulfillment of his dreams, Genesis 41:37-46. Of a truth “a man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men “, Proverbs 18:16.

Many people are of the erroneous belief that once one is chasing a big dream, one should not show concern or care about other people especially the poor and the needy one comes across. As a result of their lack of concern or empathy and compassion, they missed the key that is meant to open the door for them to actualize their dreams in possession of those people.

The importance of helping others cannot be overemphasized. Helping others open unsolicited great doors and opportunities. Whoever God brings across your path is for a reason. Be concerned about them and help in whichever way you can. Don’t look down on anyone.

GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO I
