Just go with a mechanic and choose thesame engine that came with your car and fix to the car.

It's an aluminum engine, buy complete engine because any deformity in the previous one won't be fixable by the mechanic.

Your exact engine is VQ35DE am guessing yours is the 1st generation FX35, that engine is fitted into several Nissan V6 vehicles, Maxima, 350Z, Pathfinder, Murano, quest etc.

Don't go to market feeling big and telling them you want an Infiniti FX35 engine, I am certain they would bill you more for same engine grin

Yes, that's the old 3.5 DE. Should be the Maxima/Murano 3.5 engine.

Depending on how clean the engine is and other accessories attached to it, it shouldn't surpass 250k

Not sure how much the naira fall would've affected prices, but I think 250k is a good budget to go with, like Nurey said.

One thing I like about FX35 (the only Nissan/Infiniti I like) is balance and sporty exhaust note. But it isn't cheap to run.

I did drive it some years ago and It felt great. But no leg room at the back and boot. Electric wahala too.

between QX4 and FX35, which is more durable? I know FX35 is costly to run.

QX4 is but the FX35 isn't all that bad in terms of reliability if you don't mess around with the electrical

From my findings, QX4 consumes more fuel then FX35. Is it not the same Engine they use? VQ35DE

Same block, but probably not the exact same. Likely also geared differently?

@heavenlybang

The engine are a bit different in the internal and external pathways, QX4 is a 240hp while FX35 boost upto 260hp.

The QX4 is an SUV while FX35 is a CUV, fuel economy of both would be relatively close especially in the city economy, but the FX may trump a bit in the highway economy.
