US actor Tyrese found himself trending on Twitter in South Africa after a recent Instagram post of his went viral. The Fast & The Furious actor posted an image of ‘life in South Africa’ which portrayed white people of the country as slaves and servants. He captioned the since-deleted image; “The flip..Get to YouTube this is what’s going on in South Africa..” The actor was referring to a YouTube video titled; ‘South Africa – Poor whites, rich blacks’. Tyrese’s fans and followers – particularly ones from SA – were shocked by the the post and immediately called him out on it. A number of SA stars also reacted to the post, including media personality Bonang Matheba, who called the actor a “swine”. Responding to his post, Bonang tweeted; “…please, don’t come talk s*** here about South Africa. Jou swine!” Sho Madjozi and Thickleeyonce also slammed the star in comments left under the post. “Have you been hacked?”, asked Sho, whilst Thickleeyonce wrote; “Please stop spreading fake news. This is honestly so reckless and stupid. Do some research & educate yourself before posting fake news.” Ntando Duma simply wrote “FAKE NEWS” with a series of SA flag emojis. Dineo Langa tweeted; “Everyone must report Tyrese‘s Insta post about South Africa and have his account taken down net vir daai rubbish”. Meanwhile Black Twitter dragged the actor over his ‘ignorance’. Tyrese responded to outrage claiming he was “not offended by the negative feedback”. Responding to a critic, the star wrote in the comments section: " Why you took it so literal? ….I am not offended by all the negative feedback….it was an attempt at a compliment based on that YouTube clip I already referred to… “Not the general and overall South Africa but specific areas and specific groups are doing well….based on my own 10 + visits into South Africa and seeing things with my own eyes”. https://www.all4women.co.za/2044021/entertainment/entertainment-news/bonang-other-sa-celebs-slam-tyrese-over-fake-news-post-about-south-africa
