Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said worship centres in the state may resume for services as from Friday, July 17th, in line with the agreement reached by the state government with leaders of religious organisations in the state.

Governor Fayemi who disclosed this on Tuesday in a state-wide broadcast on the next stage in the State’s COVID-19 Response said arrangements are in top gear to ensure that pupils and students return to school from July 20 as recommended by stakeholders in the education sector.

He also noted that the two largest markets in Ado Ekiti – Oja Oba and Bisi Market, will now be open to lock-up shops only, subject to compliance with protocols, stressing that street trading, makeshift stalls kiosks and open display of wares in the said markets remain banned.

The Governor also announced that the state government has taken a N2.5 billion Life Insurance cover of N2 million each for 500 frontline medical personnel involved in COVID-19 assignment in addition to the prompt payment of COVID-19 special allowances to qualified cadres.

However, he expressed dismay with the increasing refusal of residents to wear face masks in public which he said could spike community transmission of the disease.

Fayemi said security agencies and Ministry of Justice have been directed to arrest and prosecute any person caught in public places without wearing the face mask appropriately covering the nose, mouth and chin.

Expatiating on the conditions to be met before public worship resume, Fayemi said social distancing of six feet must be observed and hand washing as well as use of face masks are compulsory.

According to him, maximum capacity for each building should be determined with the six feet social distancing principle, adding that the number must be conspicuously displayed outside the building.

Allowing kids in primary and secondary schools embark on a suicide mission is it advisable?

Some of those kids can't even wear their shoes/sandals right not to talk of taking the right precautionary measure to ensure they ain't infected.

Children wen fit use play play spit 4 their mate face tear race even come dey laugh join.

Please you guys should not try opening schools now. Primary and secondary schools especially.

How did the children cope while their parents have gone to work places. Let stop deceiving ourselves, Corona virus is already in the community. Many children are having it already but it is not as bad as it seems. Schools should open while government enforces the guidelines

But why is primary & secondary schools being reopened instead of higher institutions. The latter can cope with precautionary measures better than the former. Is it that our governments are so insensitive?

I doubt many parents would allow their kids go to school for the first few weeks... undecided, especially if this is replicated in lagos.
Major markets too nah wahala, but you cant compare the immune system of an adult to that of a growing child. undecided

Hmmmmmm
It is well
Only God can save us from this virus
Well they should start prosecuting people failing to wear nose masks or they should even deploy armed men to enforce it any way.
I just don't understand how people fail to obey simple instructions!

A for Amadioha
B for Ball
C for Covid 19
D for Die
E for Ekiti
F for Fayemi Failed

If you ask me anything beyond secondary school in Nigeria is a waste of time, infact SS2 and above are wasted years just shut down schools at once
After covid 19 let us ban school as we know it currently

Why is no one talking about reopening higher institutions? I feel those are lesser risks than primary and secondary schools.

Are you planning an upcoming building project and don't have a decent plan yet? Contact me to design the complete building drawings (architectural, as well as securing structural, mechanical, electrical and Bill of Quantities) all at VERY decent costs. See correspondence in my signature below or simply chat/call 0816 124 7898 to get started or see samples. Thank you

We are going to know if we have super immume system or the strain of corona virus in Nigeria is not deadly soon. My own advice is that everyone should be careful. If you have diabetes or any kind of infection, stay at home ooooo. A word is enough for the wise.
