Owing to increase in the spread of the deadly corona virus disease among people in the government, which, no doubt has been affecting the governance and security of the country, the Federal Government may propose total lockdown in the country, in two weeks.

Speaking at the press briefing in Abuja, on Tuesday, the Chairman of the presidential task force on covid19 and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said there is possiblity that the FG will propose total lowdown due to the rise in the cases of covid19 among people in government in other to contain it spread.

Boss Mustapha also advised prominent Nigerians to take covid19 precautionary measures seriously, saying the virus does not respect status.

The SFG warning came due to the alarming rate of spread of the virus among prominent Nigerians, including state governors, David Umahi of Ebonyi, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu, who have contracted the virus.

“Of recent, we have witnessed a high rate of positive cases especially among people in authority. This has a direct impact on governance and security of our nation. We urge that vigilance and care should be exhibited by all Nigerians, irrespective of status. This virus does not discriminate and the PTF shall keep sustaining its sensitisation messaging,” Mustapha said.

A total lockdown at this point would be nothing short of madness unless the govt wants to totally leave the economy devastated...The country is yet to recover from the harsh effects of the first one imposed yet you're mulling the possibility of another one? Even countries more hit by Covid-19 are obviously moving on so what's your point?

Exactly. The government put its citizens into this mess. We wouldn't be in this situation if they had acted earlier than they did but no, they had to wait till their darling children and relatives returned to the country before they acted. Talk about irresponsible leaders!

Absolutely unnecessary..

I believe if every Nigerian is tested for Covid19 antibody today, majority of us would test positive.
Corona virus has penetrated the country such that many people suffered and recovered from the virus without knowing it.

Even from the number that tested negative using PCR as in this update, I'm sure many of them would test positive for the antibody...
