I bought some items at Lagos Island and the store owner assured me that the Alabaeru girl standing near his store was a regular helper and I that could trust her with my goods. So I gave her the items to carry to my driver at the park. She called others to help since I bought a lot of things. To my surprise, when I got to my car, there was nothing. I immediately went back to the shop and informed the owner who introduced me to this alabaeru. He denied knowing them and said I gave them the goods at my own risk. I search the whole market but did not find them. Fast forward to 2 months later, I went to mile2 owode mechanic village to fix my car and saw the alabaeru girl there. I held her and called police. She was arrested and she confessed of diverting the goods. She later took us to the shops in Oshodi and Mushin where she had sold the items. I recovered everything. 20 Likes 1 Share |

Kalatium: I wanted to pass this post over until I saw the second experience. It reminded me of a similar one I had at Aswani Market 14-15 years ago. Bought a pair of faux leather flip-flops for N600 (a good deal, I thought). A fellow soon came around to solicit me to consider adding nails for durability. I asked how much and he said N50, which I thought was just about what Hausa shoe menders would charge. I gave him the go-ahead. After nailing six points, he said my bill was N600. I was like what! Told me the back and front parts of each nail was N50 each. I was mad! But I couldn't start a fight because I was somewhat a "church boy" and that kept me from losing it to an extent (same factor made me practically pay N500 for fare from Ikeja to Ojota yesterday, ouch!). It can be quite hard to be a peaceful, easy-going person in this Lagos. 6 Likes 1 Share |

After i bought some goods at a market on a market day so I.wasn't having much cash on me. I saw a shoe seller and went to price a particular high heeled slippers I liked. One woman and her daughter were there checking out different shoes.. I got one and she immediately picked interest in my slippers. The money I had on me wasn't enough, so I went back to the car to get more.. Getting back to pay, this woman had dropped the ones she was holding and was now clutching my own. I said madam, you were here before and never showed interest. She said sebi you never pay for am. I looked at the seller, he pleaded with this woman, she was adamant!... Chai... That thing vex me en! Its like some people don't know what to choose, it is when you choose something that their eye will now open... Another time I saw an evening gown on a mannequin. I got inside the shop and met other ladies. Immediately I asked them to bring in the dress, they picked interest and this time, I was observant and didn't let go of my dress... They were like madam, sebi you don't have interest again? I wanted to say mind your business abi what concerns you.... But I paid and see the jealousy for their eye! It was like how manage we didn't see that particular dress? Lolsss!/ 7 Likes |

Sososo:When u want to visit such market, dress like "sister"kinda dressing preferably with cheap wears. They will leave u alone. U will also have a better chance at haggling prices with them. It's very annoying and irritating but you can outsmart them especially in big markets. 3 Likes |
