Your resume is a document meant to capture the attention of the Hiring Manager and the best way to capture his/her attention with your resume are:

1. Remove unneccesary details:- Go straight to the point, you really don't need to include your state of origin, date of birth, relationship status etc. You are wasting white space. Your name and contact details (email, phone number, address and sometimes a hyperlink to your LinkedIn profile or portfolio website) is awesome.

2. Make it about them: While reading through your resume, the only thing the Hiring Manager cares about is what you can do for them. They're most interested in your skills and experience. Subsciously, they begins to imagine how those skills and experience would benefit the company.

3. Match your resume to the job requirement: You don't send a resume tailored for an administrative role to a sales position. What you do here is take keywords and phrases from the job description, then input them straight to your resume.

Make sure you have a good understanding of the keywords and phrases. This little things matter and increases your chances of an interview with the Hiring Manager.

Note that every CV isn't meant to be structured to suit a particular job position. So sending a CV tailored for marketing to an administrative position is really a big mistake because the job requirement for an administrative position is entirely different from a marketing positon.
