Barely 24 hours after the Lagos State Government (through the Office for Education Quality Assurance- OEQA) made it compulsory for private schools to register on the OEQA website before reopening on August 3rd, the website does not seem to be working.

The instruction to register on the website was given on Wednesday 29th of July , 2020. Since the 30th of July till today (Friday 31st), the tab/link on the website to register schools is not working. In fact, it is as if there is no link because when one hovers on the "school registration" tab, a specific web address does not appear.

For illustration, if one hovers on the "publications" tab, it will show /oeqalagos.com/publications/ and will take you to the publications page.
If one hovers on the "contact us" tab, it will show /oeqalagos.com/contact/ and will take you to the contact page
However, if one hovers on the "school registration" tab, it shows nothing!

I am a consultant for 3 different private secondary schools in Lagos, and I have confirmed this issue with all of my clients. Private school proprietors are in panic because the resumption is in less than 3 days, and the government has already threatened to close down schools who have not registered.

Please, everyone, let us make this issue public to raise awareness. I'm sure than many private schools are in panic. This is already a stressful period for schools, this registration problem is making the whole situation worse.

Just imagine that schools are now expected to do special COVID fumigation which will cost nothing less than 50,000 naira as schools are usually large buildings. Schools are also expected to buy sanitisers and handwashing liquids, thermometers which are all now more expensive because of the coronavirus. Then there is deep cleaning of each and every furniture and equipment in the school. Some schools will even have customized masks. These expenses are not cheap. Then there is the issue of teachers returning and holding schools to ransom by demanding full salary or else, no revision for WAEC.

Things are not easy.

Update on the situation. I called the number on the site and was directed to another site that is not working. Problem persists
