Over the years a lot of couples have sufferred from the agony of childless due to infertility but having the knowledge of herbal medicine has actually changed the fortune of so many family, we will need to examine the factors responsible and what herbs are effective for fertility
1. Anovulation
This is when ovulation fails to occur or when is not
regular. This could be caused by wrong medication hormonal imbalance or a poly cystic ovarian disease
FORMULA 1
Materials:
1. Bark and root of Newboudia laevis.
English: Fertility plant
Yoruba: Akoko,
Igbo; Ogirishi, Esan: Ukhimi
2. Ginger
Receipe: Scrape the bark of the root and stem. Dry and
grind into powder. Pour 1 teaspoon of the powder into a
teacup of hot water, then add 1/2 teaspoon of powered
ginger. Allow it to infuse for 10-15 minutes. Dosage: 2 cups daily for 6 weeks.
FORMULA 2
Materials:
A: 40 leaves of fertility plant.
B: 20 pieces of Xylopia aethiopica
Yoruba; Erunje, Igbo: Uda,
Hausa: Kimba
Esan: Usira
C. 40 leaves of Alstonia boneei ( stoolwood)
D. 10 bottles of water
Recipe: Bring A, B and C to boil together in D, Allow it to stand for 24 hours. Sieve and add D..
Dosage: 1 cup 3 times daily ( cup = 240ml )
side effect: Slight laxative
2. IRREGULAR/ PAINFUL MENSTRUATION Materials
A: 5 bulbs of garlic
B: 5 fingers of ginger
C: 2 bulbs of onions
D: 10 pieces of Capsicum frutescens
English - African red pepper Igbo - Ose Oyibo
Yoruba - Ata eiye
Hausa - barkono
Benin - Isie
E: 1bottle of honey
F: 1 bottle of water Receipe: Grind all together with F and G.
Dosage: 2 dessertspoons 3 times daily
Side effect: Slight stomach pain for ulcer patients. Take
plenty of water to neutrailize the effect.
3. OVARIAN CYSTS/ADHESIONS
Materials: A: 50 leaves of Vernonia amydalina ( Bitter leaf )
B. 50 leaves of Newbouldia leavis ( Fertility plant )
C: 50 leaves of Gmelina Arborea ( Kashmir tree)
D: 8 bottles of water
E: 1 bottle of honey
Recipe: Pound and squeeze A and B in the water. Sieve and add the honey. Do not refrigerate
Dosage: 1 glass 3 times daily for two months.
4. FIBROIDS
Materials:
A: 30 pieces of fresh immature palm nuts
B. 30 pieces of spondias mombin English - Hog plum
Igbo - Ijikara
Yoruba - akika, Iyeye
Hausa - tsadar masar
Bini - Okhighan
C. 10 littres of water D. 1 bottle of honey
Receipe: Bring A and B to boil. Allow it ti stand for 12
hours. Sieve and add D.
Dosage: 1/2 glass 3 times daily for 4 months.
Note: Do not exceed 4 months.
Fresh immature palm nuts are either dark or green in colour.
