Have you ever heard of people that got scammed trying to get properties in Lagos?

Has that fear made you very uncomfortable about giving your money to any agent?

Yes people do get scammed buying properties.

But there are guidelines and blueprints that if followed will help you get verified properties.

Even the best scammer can't beat this process.

First thing to do before buying a property:

1. Demand for the documents: Before you make payment ask for either of the following
a. C of o
b. Gazette or government excision
c. The deed of assignment
Once you are sure of getting any of this during or after payment, you are on the write track

2. Endeavor to visit the site, yes do physical inspections check the road leading to the place, transportation and proximity, also check major land mark. *Don't pay for any land you did not go to, or someone you trust that is knowledgeable did not go to* Don't fall into the trap of "just send the money we will do the rest work for you". Book an appointment with the Real estate agent to go see the place.

3. Document every single part of payment. *"The proof of business is documentation, this will help you when it comes to refunds and when you need to sell the property"*

4. Take possession of your land immediately by constructing a small fence around it. "An empty land is no man's land. Don't tempt the evil ones by leaving your land fallow. Clear it and build a fence or foundation on it"
