Over 5000 traders at the Ikoku Spare parts market in the Mile 3 axis of Port Harcourt have been given an impromptu eviction notice of three weeks by their landowners. The landlords did not offer any reason for their action.

Chairman of the market, Anthony Alaribole in an interview with newsmen said many of the traders are yearly tenants who have been operating in Ikoku for about 30-50 years. He said they have been thrown into confusion because of the short notice.

He also alleged that the eviction notice is a strategy to destabilize the traders because of the matter they have with the police and the state government due to their demand of justice for the late Chima Ikwunado and the Ikoku4.

Some traders who spoke to City News appealed to the landlords to give them more time to plan their next move as no other location has been provided for them.

They also appealed to the state government to intervene and provide an alternative for them considering the important service they render to the society.

Though the State Government is yet to issue a an official statement on the development, City News gathered there are moves to relocate the traders to somewhere around Eleme junction.

Igbo traders settle with your Ikwerre landlords.

But relocating to Eleme isn’t a bad idea! We need to make Port Harcourt a modern city. That spare parts market has so much dirts and also overcrowded. sad

No big deal, it's just quit notice, it's not demolition , neither is it a death sentence. With our heads held high, we will overcome. Igbo, ndi oma nwem, I hail you. Even if it is the bush that welcomes you, fear not for it is written, that one of the blessings God gave Igbo our progenitor is to excel and succeed in all he does , no matter where you find yourself, you will succeed. I greet you, the great Igbo race

Wow..

Pls let's not turn this to Ikwerre Vs Igbo. I think we should hear the reason the landlords gave before making conclusions.

Thanks.

IPOB love Wike, so I see everyone being okay with this development.

You are richer than somebody but your riches are at his mercy and pleasure and you think you are rich?

You see this childish chest beating thing without intelligence and humility is what normally irks other at you people that you erroneously thinks it’s envy and jealousy

Calm down, it's not like the parts are being manufactured in Aba. They are imported from China. Anyone can import from China and sell them in PH. It is not rocket science. This is basic buying and selling 101.

So if there exists a vacuum, naturally another will provide the services.

If you know the number of cars in PH, then you know anyone who fills the vacuum created by the dislodged Igbos will hit a gold mine.

If you were very smart you would have developed your own state and dominated it but you are an inferior tribe who depend on others to survive. One day you will be chased away from Niger Delta again ,it's only a matter of time, it's happened before and it will happen again.

Ikwerre and Igbophobia.

But naturally Igbos should take a little blame to this. It is even conducive doing business in Ghana, Liberia and outside world than hostile environment in that axis...

We shouldn't be discussing these issues on days like this...

You import goods with money not with envy, hatred and jealousy.
And let me quickly remind you that nobody is going to displace Igbos in PH city.

Ikwerres can dislodge Igbos conveniently in PH. But in ernest, it is not in our best interest to make Igbos feel unloved, much more dislodged them. Na Igbos be our biggest political supporters na.

How we want take dey sweep Rivers elections if not Igbos.

I think Wike will provide another location. My mind tell me Wike wants to buy those buildings in the name of urban renewal, seeing that road is contiguous with Olu Obasanjo road.
