Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji was born on May 19, 1964. At 23, Samuel earned his bachelor and master’s degree in law. But, he had a burning passion for football. Consequently, he became a successful athlete globally.

Samuel earlier played for several teams like Associazione Sportiva Roma, Građanski Nogometni klub Dinamo Zagreb, and Austria Klagenfurt. Subsequently, Okwaraji earned a six-year contract with Verein für Bewegungsspiele Stuttgart in Germany. But, he was loaned to a second division team, SSV-ULM 1846.

In 1988, Okwaraji made his first appearance for the Green Eagles. Although his club demanded a fee of $45,000 from the Nigerian Football Association (NFA) before he could play for Nigeria, Okwaraji stood against the intended exploit and interceded appropriately.
