A 22 year old boy in laments the high level of corruption among some officers in the Nigerian Police Force. The boy, identified as Nicholas Victor, was a student of Auchi Polytechnic and a ND2 Student. He narrate his ordeal at a police station, after he was forcefully made to give some police officers a sum of N70,000 for owning two phones.

The boy said he left his home on August 4, and was traveling to Edo state, when they were stopped by some policemen stationed along Okene road in Kogi State. The policemen asked everyone in the bus to get down, which they all did. After, they asked all the passengers including the driver to give them some money.

They donate the money to the policemen, but when the policemen saw him holding two smartphones, they asked him to pay more than the rest. He told the police officers that all the money on him is only N4,700. The police refused to collect the money, but insist that he transfer money into their account.

The boy repeated what he said earlier on, that he did not have more than N4,700. One of the Policemen then gave him a slap and dragged him towards their van. He was then asked to unlock his phone, which he did. When the policemen saw the picture of his girlfriend, they told him they will not collect less than N100,000 from him and that he has to pay it now or they took him to the station where he will still have to bail himself.

Victor then realized that he is in real trouble. He asked them to give him his phone so he can call his mom. He called his mom and explained his situation to her, his mom begged the policemen to accept N10,000 from her. They refused, still demanding for N100,000.

Victor's mother then transferred N70,000 into their account and he was released. He was left speechless and confused about the level of corruption in the Nigerian police force. He reported the matter to a police station and investigation is still ongoing about officers who forcefully extort money from him.
