Hi @OP I plan buying 2012/2013 Explorer next week, my mind is telling me to buy from Cotonue but I am scared because of custom wahala and I was told the drivers are rough. I have heard about people that bought car in Cotonue by the time the car got to lagos they had to change front and back bumpers, headlamps and sometimes gearbox etc. I dont know why the drivers are that rough.

Anyway what is the cost of 2012/2013 Explorer Limited or XLT? Please call your contacts in Cotonue to be sure of the price coz i dont want surprises.

Also, whats the method of payment? Can I withdraw money from any of the Nigerian banks in cotonue as I dont want to carry money from Lagos to Cotonue.

The main reason why some cars were rough before getting to lagos is that some buyers or their agent were not pay for custom duty, they flying their cars and they give ppls that are not really knowing the wort of the cars to cross it for them, imagine like the car you request for now the custom duty is 850k, if dey wonted to flying it they will just give to anyhow person with 50k. 100% sure they wont follow express na inside bush they will follow all because they won't give custom money.

So the best way is to buy car and pay custom duty so that your car will follow straight road infact you car even stay with your car till it get to your house so that you will be able to se everything by yourself.

Yes will can withdraw money at border before entry like 50k to 100k just to deposit for anyone you choose, while the others payment will be on bank transfered. Is not advisable to carry cash along....
