One may think having an influential or a well-to-do family member should be an automatic ticket to securing a job, but it's not always the case. Fields of study sometimes matter, as some job seekers (mostly fresh graduates) would like to seek for jobs relating to his/her discipline or acquired skills. Some graduates would want to try their luck applying for different job adverts/vacancies with a reputable relative (could be a politician) on their list of referees. And, there are many claims online/offline that including a relative in the list of referees may be of no use or disadvantage to one's application. How true is this?

Thanks
