The management of King’s College, Lagos state, says the institution was not neither attacked nor set ablaze by hoodlums as rumoured in some quarters.

Unverified reports had claimed that the main campus of the 111-year-old all boys college was attacked and set ablaze by some unknown persons on Wednesday.

The development was said to have created panic among many parents.

But speaking with NAN on Thursday, Andrew Agada, the school’s principal, dismissed the swirling speculations, noting that the students are all safe.

“I want to seize this opportunity to appeal with my parents to remain calm as the children are all safe and secured,” he said.

“I have been receiving a lot of calls from all over in respect to reports that the college has been set ablaze as a result of all these uncertainty. But the information is not correct.”

Agada attributed such rumours to the college’s closeness to the City Hall, which was reportedly set ablaze by hoodlums.

“I think because of the closeness of King’s College to the City Hall that was set ablaze, people misjudge it to be the college,” he added.

“Parents should go about their normal activities, as security has been beefed up around the institution. The students are also in good care. Let us all continue to pray for normalcy to return to the entire country.”

There have been renewed attacks on government and private properties in Lagos since the shooting of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate by soldiers on Tuesday night.

OK.
The peaceful protest has been hijacked by thugs, the damage caused everywhere cannot be quantified.
