The last meeting of ASUU and federal government ended in deadlock. In my opinion, I think the offer of 20 billion naira as against the demand of 110 billion for the revitalization of Universities is too small.

There are about 43 federal Universities and 48 state universities totalling 91 Universities that the funds will be spread across.

The lawmakers proposed a budget of about 37 billion for the renovation of the national assembly. But the FG wants to release 20 billion for about 91 Universities with so many faculties and departments. It is a far cry of what is required. If FG value education, they should borrow to upgrade our institutions of learning the way they borrow to carry out projects we don't even see. After all, the student pay high school fees.

Even the 110 billion naira demand is grossly insufficient if they want to upgrade the Universities to world standard.

FG should please release the monies so that students can go back to school. They should only set up committee to monitor the judicious use of the money.
