About Us: THE MIDWEST MOVEMENT (MM) is another name for Edo/Delta Indigenous People’s Association, a pan-Edo/Delta group of distinguished sons and daughters of the twelve tribes of the old Midwest Region, later Bendel State. The entire geographical area of the two states of Edo and Delta form the territorial area of Midwest Nigeria.

Requirements

1. Administrative & Research Officer
Reports to Board of Trustees (BoT)

Tasks:
• Available to travel to all parts of Edo and Delta state at very short notice
• Actively sensitise the Elders/Obas/Kings of all 12 tribes of Edo and Delta States for awareness of the purpose of the Midwest Movement.
• Plan/organize fundraising for the organisation.
• Responsible for contacting grassroots leaders
• Responsible for various administrative duties like collating data from the different committees and performing research duties for the organization.
• Provide support for the organization in terms of scheduling/arranging conferences, type/produce documents when requested, create and maintain membership expenditure account.
• Assist in arranging meetings and provide readings of same.
• Set-up and maintain organization website, create content for our various social media platforms.
• Provide administrative assistance for the mobilization officer in Benin and the liaison officer in Abuja
• Help develop and implement PR campaigns: create and oversee strategic plans for MM.
• Implement plan deliverables that can include writing and/or editing media materials (press releases, pitches, bylined articles, etc.), media relations, crisis communications, media training, blogger relations, social media, digital marketing, advertising, etc.
• Instigates and responds in a timely manner to inquiries from the news media. This includes collecting relevant information, identifying appropriate spokespersons, securing clearances if necessary, and preparing messaging as appropriate. Generates and builds relationships with reporters, news outlets nationally, regionally and locally.
• Assists in the implementation of a strategic media plan that covers MM events and fund-raising programmes. Such a plan might incorporate traditional pitches, blog posts, online videos, podcasts, social media discussions and commentaries.
• Maintain and update information on the MM's website
• Organise events, including press conferences, exhibitions, visitations and press tours
• Research, write and distribute press releases to MM Members and targeted media
• Manage and update information and engage with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook
• Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
• Provide periodic outreach services, which include the following tasks:
o Work with MM BoT to develop an outreach campaign
o Search for leads or legitimate prospects
o Assemble and manage a mailing and e-mail list of legitimate prospects such as professional bodies, Royal Highnesses and Majesties, Chiefs, Professionals, Men, Women and Youths.
o Develop letters and email messages to be mailed to prospects in propagating the virtues of the Midwest Movement.
o Conduct Cold Calls and visitations to prospects
o Organise and attend networking events and professional conferences.
Qualifications:
Graduate level is required
Minimum of 3 years administrative work experience
Efficient in Microsoft office suite or equivalent

2. Contact and Mobilisation Freelance Officers
Report to Administrative & Research Officer

ROLE:
Freelance Public Relations, Media Communications Strategist and Social Network Management Analyst

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
The role is mainly public relations, outreach and mobilisation responsible for increasing Midwest Movement’s visibility, membership and fundraising drive that will be directly proportionate to prospects. The role will be off-site and full-time as the employee will work from home or remote locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reviews MM-prepared periodic media coverage reports and quarterly reports.
• Conducts additional analysis for milestones and as necessary using monitoring tools.
• Helps identify potential news-making opportunities in Edo and Delta States in the areas of political, regional discourse and interventions. Regularly shares MM story ideas with the media.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of issues relevant to Nigerian political systems, work, both those occurring in Edo and Delta as well as those occurring nationwide.
• Provides advance and on-site media support MM BoT, including arranging media briefings and interviews with nedia space.
• Maintains professional growth and development and keeps abreast of latest trends in area of expertise. Demonstrates accurate knowledge of relevant laws, policies, regulations and standard affecting decisions and interpretations. Is alert to changes in regulations and responds immediately to meet them.
• Collaborates with Midwest Movement’s Board of Trustees to discuss outreach strategies that will reflect the organization’s mission and vision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Working knowledge and real-world experience in managing outreach initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to balance numerous projects and pivot from one task to another.
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
• 3+ years Outreach, PR, Media Communication and Social Network Management Analyst experience or equivalent experience within a corporate environment
• Experience creating outreach material such as white papers, prospect letters and email pitches.
• Experience managing and executing outreach initiatives as part of an integrated network communication strategy.
• B.A or B.Sc with focus on communication or public relations preferred, not required
3. Liaison Officer
Reports to MM Board of Trustees
Tasks:
• Responsible for developing and fostering relationships with the Midwest region and members of government.
• Working with/assist the Senators and Reps from Midwest extraction to make sure they drive the key interest of the Midwest people.
• Coordinate and communicate with the Admin & Research Officer in Benin to keep the organization updated on decisions made in the interest of the region.
• Plan, develop and implement PR strategies
• Liaise with, and answer enquiries from, media individuals and other organisations
• Collate and analyse media coverage
• Write and edit in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports
• Source and manage speaking and sponsorship opportunities for MM
• Follow up with leads associated with membership drives and fundraising activities
Qualifications:
Graduate level qualification is required
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Public Relations or related discipline.
