Germany

Germany is one of the centers of civilization in Europe, a fully developed nation with a stable economy. Germany has a sizeable number of people and friendly student immigration policy.

It is absolute stress free to study in Germany but an intending international student should begin the process of application as early as possible. A powerful member of schengen nations with complete technological drive, more still all government universities in Germany were tuition free.
Though life is expensive in Germany compare to other Europe nations, but there is hundreds of scholarship to support international students and the better part of it is that students can work at least twenty hours per week during school session and unlimited number of hours when schools were not in session. Names or lists of the universities and foundations awarding grants and scholarship could not be given here because they were numerous, however a link to the database that comprising this information is given below.

Why choose a German university?
1.8 million Students around the world go abroad to attend a university. Nearly one tenth of those students choose to come to Germany. Germany has a lot to offer to foreign students, be they first-year students or postgraduates. Germany’s universities combine age-old traditions with modern technologies.

More than 300 universities are featured on campus Germany: from time-honored institutions offering students the classical repertoire of subjects such as medicine, law, English and German to innovative new institutions of higher education with inter-disciplinary study programs. German universities are open to anyone who fulfills the prerequisites and academic freedom is one of the basic principles of the German university system. That's also one of the reasons German universities don't charge tuition fees. You'll only have to pay for your education at a few private schools.

Universities here combine research and study. They've been the
Scenes of many groundbreaking discoveries and they're internationally renowned. German universities attract faculty and students from around the world. Modern German universities also combine theoretical work with its practical application. They both educate and train - basic research is augmented by applied research.
Interdisciplinary cooperation is common and many of them co-operate multinational firms and with other research institutes in Germany and abroad. In the end, this increases the graduates' chances on the job market.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN GERMANY
Private Funding
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a German organization whose primary focus is to provide educational exchange between international undergraduate and graduate students. Through its many international centers, DAAD provides advertising for education in Germany as well as scholarships that attract top talent and highly-qualified students who consider a study abroad program in Germany a critical piece of their academic experience:
• Undergraduate Scholarships are widely given to U.S. students who are top in their academic class. Applicants may be undergraduate or graduate students with a highly defined research project or program of study applicable to a period of study time in Germany. To be eligible candidates must also be proficient in the language. The program is open for semester and yearlong programs. Recipients are awarded a monthly allowance.
• Study Scholarships pick up where the Undergraduate Scholarships leave off. The awards are available for graduate students who have majored in almost anything, but whose further educational goals demand a stint of time in Germany, at least a year and possibly more. Generous monthly stipends, partial travel expenses and health insurance are all included.
• RISE Scholarships (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) are carefully handed out to highly motivated and ambitious undergrads whose fields of study include the sciences, mathematics and engineering. The program brings together post-graduate German students, whose research could use some assistance, and U.S. undergrads who are interested in working closely with such scholars in German colleges and universities. Some travel expenses and monthly stipends are included.
CDS International, Inc. is a German-based company founded immediately following the close of World War II just when Germany was at her lowest. The organization has since been dedicated to providing lasting collaboration and professional opportunities between the U.S. and Germany. To these ends CDS is instrumental in funding a large number of generous scholarships that achieve the desired ends. Students at all levels of study and whose career tracks are likely to carry them into international waters, business and global finance, are encouraged to explore the funding opportunities available:
• Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to pursue a year of study in their major at a German university. The goal of the program is to offer applicants a unique cultural exchange and learning opportunity. Eligible applicants must be engaged in technical studies or agriculture to be considered.
• Students interested in a unique political studies opportunity may qualify for a short-term internship with the German government through the Émigré Memorial German Internship Program.
• Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program is directed at graduate level professionals whose interests lie in international business or from the realm of political sciences. Special interest is given to those whose field of interest is specifically related to Germany.
• Community college students are encouraged to explore the WISP Scholarships. This program is uniquely designed to allow vocational or technical students a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience an international work setting. Awardees actually work in certain German businesses, much as they would in a co-op learning situation in the U.S. With a more international experience of their field of study it is believed that professionals are more prepared to function in an increasingly global marketplace.
German Chancellor Scholarships awarded by the Humboldt Foundation pit only the most ambitious professional upstarts and academics against each other in competition for the limited number of highly sought after positions. Applicants must have highly evolved research projects related to a stay in Germany and scholarships cover a year of study. No need to have advanced knowledge of German, either; the awards fund a fast-paced language component.
College Scholarships
If you are interested in studying at Schiller International University in Heidelberg, Germany you may qualify for partial tuition scholarships. Many courses are taught in English and in a wide range of disciplines. Scholarships for U.S. students include:
• Ben Franklin awards are handed out to a few dozen American students interested in heading to Germany for a study abroad experience. Applications are reviewed based on academic standing, current financial situation and program of study.
• HBCU Awards are given to academically talented and financial needy students whose home institution is one of the Historically Black Colleges or Universities.
Rutgers University students may choose between interdisciplinary courses located in historic Constance, Germany or the uniquely designed Landscape Architecture program in Munich. Those heading off to study in Germany may wish to apply for a couple of study abroad scholarships specifically designed to offset the attendant costs of international travel:
• Lillian Rodig Prize is awarded to a qualified applicant going to Germany for a year of study.
• German Alumnae Prize.
The University of Kentucky German Studies department has formed an exchange alliance with the University of Heidelberg in Germany that enables more seamless exchange and collaboration between students. Heidelberg Scholarships are ultra-competitive awards that pit only the most academically proficient against each other for the two available awards. Scholarships cover nearly all expenses for a year of study in Heidelberg.

Academic year
The academic year is divided into two semesters or terms. The summer semester usually runs from April 1 to September 30, the winter semester lasts from October 1 to March 31. The semester may begin or end one month earlier at some universities of applied science. About a third of the academic year consists of breaks, time away from the lecture halls. But these months can hardly be called
Vacation though; you'll need the time to write research papers, work on presentations and finish your homework. Some professors schedule examinations or tests during this time. You may also need the time to acquire work experience through internships.

Nb
Application closing dates: this will be specified in the application forms as it varies from school to school.

Universities in Germany
There are over 300 universities in Germany apart from few private universities. It is better to use the website below to search for a university of your choice and apply to the universities directly. You could search by courses as well.

Universities specialize in methodic, theoretical education. The classic faculties include medicine and law, social and cultural sciences, and often business management and education. Research and study are closely combined, just as Germany’s great academic reformer wilhelm humboldt thought they should be. Research is conducted independent of current societal interests. The goal is primarily gaining and furthering knowledge, not practical application.

Students at universities are largely free to determine their course of study themselves. They decide which lectures to attend or which professor to take an exam with. But there are certain guidelines that have to be followed. A university degree isn't Paramount to job training, but it does give you the scientific qualifications needed on the job market.

There are many specialized universities in Germany, and we can not be listing them as we did to Sweden and Austria where there are fewer than 30 universities, however your choice of course will determine the type of university you will attend, it extremely easier to search the data base as given above.

Types of degree awarded by German universities
The typical degree certificate awarded in Germany is diploma (bachelor), magister atrium (master) and doctoral diploma (PhD), first degree program take s up to eight semesters. Studies in Germany are tuition free. Tuition is not charged in federal universities, while as little as €523 is charged per semester by some state universities. However, there are some scholarships that cover living expenses of
Foreign students in Germany. You may wish to browse through the site and see the possibility of getting some. At the same time students can work for a maximum of 30 hours per week during school session and can work unlimited
Hours during holidays.
