A time will come when Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo will also be put six feet below (Probably after me). I'm still not emotionally ready for that day..

Wow.

Football is REALLY influential. The WORLD is literally mourning the death of one man.

REST ON DIEGO, U WILL FOREVER BE REMEMBERED.

True..however, Micheal Jackson still holds the record. I thought the world was coming to an end when Jackson died.

If Maradona's own is like this. How will Messi's burial own look like? See love shown to an icon. Which dead footballer in Nigeria have we shown this kind of love?
Maradona is the greatest player to come out of Argentina not Messi. After Maradona is Mario Kempes not Messi. Those two delivered the world cup to Argentina. Messi is just a great player at the club level.

Messi is more loved than any footballer in Argentina?? is this a joke bro??

Those guys from Argentina view Maradona as a god, he made them famous in world football by 'almost single-handedly' winning them the world cup..

what has Messi done for Argentina?? Nothing.. to those Argentina folks, messi plays well for barca and never delivers for his country

Ask 10 guys from Argentina who is the GOAT, nine would likely pick Maradona..
Maradona is a god in Argentina.

10 out of 10 (Messi inclusive) will pick Maradona.

In one of their tabloids, they wrote "god is dead"

Tell them jareh...

Mario Kempes can only be outshined by Maradona (The Eternal), not Messi.

Kempes won the Golden Boot when Argentina hosted and won their maiden World Cup in 1978.

He played against Maradona's Barcelona whilst he was at Valencia.

Lol, in the world, Yes.
In Argentina, No.

Maradona won them the world cup and was a legend at Boca Juniors, their local club.

What has Messi achieved for Argentina apart from U-20 world cup? Almost all his achievements are for Barca.

You are very very right.

Maradona is more adored than Messi.
Things that elevated him beyond human status are the achievements (for his Country for example), skills, and time/period. Time helped him because football has not become as this during their time, and because he was exceptionally good compared to the people of his time, he dwarfed all of them, unlike now that stars are very very many. Pele's generation was like 20 years before him, and till that time, the only person comparable to him was Pele himself. So their types were not many. Diego particularly led average teams to trophies. He was exceptional...despite his shortcomings, the glory still speaks!

Imagine if Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zidane, etc didn't exist during this era, all the glory would have been for Messi alone.
What time period were you referring to. In his time you had, Platini, Zico, Socrates, Franco Baresi, to me there were better players in the past when football was HARD. these days it has been watered down to the advantage of strikers and midfielders.
Some of the great players of the past to support my point are, Marco Van Basten, Guillit, Rikaard, Maldini. Even in Africa then you had Roger Milla, Lacder Bellomi, Taber Majer, Odegami. Just like boxing the past is better than now

The below was what Brazil did for Senna (F1 race driver)

Senna's death was considered by many of his Brazilian fans to be a national tragedy, and the Government of Brazil declared three days of national mourning. The Italian Air Force offered to fly the coffin back to Brazil, but the Senna family wished that it return home in a Brazilian plane. Contrary to airline policy and out of respect, Senna's coffin was allowed to be flown back to his home country in the passenger cabin of a VARIG McDonnell-Douglas MD-11 airliner, accompanied by his distraught younger brother, Leonardo, and close friends. The plane was escorted by fighter jets into São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport on 4 May 1994, where it was met by the Mayor of São Paulo, Paulo Maluf, and the state's governor, Luís Antônio Fleury. The coffin was carried by soldiers from the Air Force Police to a fire engine, where eight cadets from the Military Police Academy mounted guard as it carried the coffin on the 20-mile journey into the city. Leading the motorcade were 17 police motorbikes, and 2,500 policemen lined the route to keep the crowds at bay.[139]

An estimated three million people flocked to the streets of Senna's hometown of São Paulo to offer him their salute. This is widely accepted as the largest recorded gathering of mourners in modern times.[140] Over 200,000 people filed past as his body lay in state at the Legislative Assembly building in Ibirapuera Park. After the public viewing, a 21-gun salute was fired by the 2nd Artillery Brigade and seven Brazilian Air Force jets flew in a diamond formation as the funeral procession made its way to Morumbi Cemetery.

Imagine if he was Nigerian.

As 2020 is coming to an end and due to the financial crises many people faced during the recent Pandemic,

So I've decided to do something Crazy as a Payback to my society!

I want to teach people for 'FREE' (give them the SKILL-SET that would make them earn like A PILOT for life) on how to Trade FOREX, Cryptocurrency, Shares (US&UK), Commodities and Bonds Profitably ($) by just using their sMart pHone, and also help them ‘Grow’ their money (Capital) at least by doubling it monthly till they are able to trade and make good PROFITs ($) single-handedly (and this would give them financial freedom as soon as possible)

That means you start “EARNING” immediately you are done with your Trade set-up while you are still Learning.

Hit me up on my WhatsApp *0*8*1*8*5*1*1*4*2*2*1 and let's get started now.

#OneLove.

If it were in Nigeria it will take ages to 'arrange' the funeral. There within a week or two it is sorted out where the cause of death is determined. Sorted out with no further ado no matter the status of the deceased in society, even kings and royalty.

Here my senior driver has been trying to sort out his father's funeral for the best part of three months since lockdown was lifted. The man passed on in February and the bills are piling up while they squabble over red tape.

We are a unique specie of people on earth, we Nigerians. The only ones that have 'culture'.
you will have to get herpentension bfor you bury someone, oyibo live easy life unlike we Nigerians

Stop talking Trash Maradona Team mates supported him at is time unlike Messi.
Messi was the reason Higuain lost one on against Germany in the World Cup final same as palacio. Both players are Great . Messi has played 3 finals , all time Highest goal scorer in Argentina he did is best but luck denied him don't down play someone's success Maradona Rated Messi ahead of himself.

Maradona's team mates supported him and Messi's didn't? what kind of biased statement is this? Are you now trying to say that Messi's team mate did not want to win the world cup or not?

Higuian missed a chance, yes.. but is there any player who doesn't miss chances in world football?

And during the 2014 world cup, Messi only played well during the group stages against average teams like iran, Nigeria.. when it got to the knock out stages, when the big boys came calling and his team needed him most, he disappeared, just like he did against liverpool, bayern, napoli, during the previous ucl.. Now compare that to Maradona who carried that Argentina team on his back like his life depended on it, just check out the game they played against England, then you will know what I am talking about..

The Argentina team Messi have played in contains some of best footballers in world football.. now compare that to Maradona's, most of the people he played with were average players..

The only reason why they played so well then was because of Maradona, he was their captain and talisman, and they believed with him, they could beat anyone, even when the player's morale were dropping, he was always there to cheer him, something you can never see from Messi..

Anytime Messi's team is losing or not playing well, just try and look at his body language, he gives up far too easily, and if you're a player in that team, when you see your best player giving up, you're tempted to do the same.. but with Maradona, it is never over until its over, and as a team mate when you see that kind of attitude from your captain, you follow him till the end

This current Argentina team lacks leaders on the pitch, that is why they are struggling, Messi who is supposed to be their captain is not a leader.. same thing is happening with barca.. Messi might be one of the greatest ever, but he's gotta be one of the worst captains ever.. when you talk about captains you mention people like keane, viera, ramos, and even Ronaldo.. and till Messi starts showing some leadership skills, I am afraid he is not gonna win anything with his country..

Messi might be one of the best ever in world football, but he is not the best player in Argentina.. the likes of Maradona are way ahead of him there

Learn how to read and comprehend.

I quoted the guy who said "Maradona is more loved than Messi"

I concurred with him by saying that "Even a kid knows this"

Then I continued my response;

"Messi is more loved than every other footballer in Argentina.

Meaning every other footballer apart from Maradona.

Stop having an erection over my post.

No need for harsh worlds bro..

'Apart from Maradona, Messi is more loved than any other footballer in Argentina'.. I think this would have better than 'Messi is more love than every other footballer in Argentina'..

And bros, you don't have to be the best in the world to be the most loved in your country..

Even if Messi likes, let him break all sort of records with Argentina, till he wins something with Argentina, there's no way the Argentines would ever value him above any member of that world cup winning team.. to them Messi plays well for barca and never turns up when he puts on the Argentina colours

No one should get me wrong, Maradona is far more loved in Argentina than Messi is.

In fact Messi is even more Spanish than Argentine.
He even almost naturalized for Spain if not for his love for his motherland.

If he did he would be a World Cup winner today and the world would back off him.

But Nothing could be harsher and farther from the truth than the part I bolded in your comment.

The fairest and most objective thing to say is "Messi has been very unlucky not to win a MAJOR trophy for Argentina"

"UNLUCKY" is the word!

*Top scorer ever for Argentina.
*Top assister ever for Argentina.
*Best player at Copa America 2015.
*Best player at Copa America 2016.
*Best player at World Cup 2014.

All these and the best way to qualify him is;

"HE NEVER TURNS UP FOR ARGENTINA"

You're dead wrong Bro.

Even Maradona didn't do it alone for Argentina.
He had Valdano, Bucharragia and a host of others scoring crucial goals.

You don't captain your team to 3 finals and say he never turns up as if getting to a final is like eating a piece of cake!

Messi has excelled for Argentina, he has only been unlucky..

Two of the greatest players in the world, two famous opponents, Brazil and Argentina, combine to totally destroy Bayern Munich.

These are two of the greatest players ever, playing for the same club. They were part of a fantastic trio in that club.

Careca and Maradona totally confuse Bayern Munich's defence many times over and over.

This is just beautiful!

Oga, nobody is arguing with you here, but rather I was simply trying to correct you when it sounded like you were implying that messi was more loved in Argentina than Maradona..

Yes, Maradona had the likes of Valdano, same way Messi had the likes of di maria, and if not because of these guys scoring the goals during the k/o stages, Messi would not have gone to the 2014 ucl final..

And yes, Messi never turns up 'when needed' .. I dare you to prove me wrong.. and for those records you mentioned, Rooney has all sort of records for england, but you can't compare his legacy to someone like Charlton.. infact our very own jay jay okocha is one of the best players to step out of africa, but can we really say he has excelled while playing for Nigeria..

If Messi can play and win things for barca, then why can't he do the same for Argentina despite having almost the same caliber of players..

He's hardly unlucky with barca, but when he's needed the most in Argentina, suddenly bad luck suddenly creeps in
