Oloko Ruling House Asks Abiodun To Resolve Ibese Obaship Tussle by Nobody: 9:54am On Nov 30, 2020
Oloko Ruling House asks Abiodun to resolve Ibese Obaship Tussle

The Oloko Ruling House of Ibese, Yewa North, Ogun state, has cried out to the Ogun state governor, prince Dapo Abiodun to as a matter of urgency to intervene in the Ibese Obaship in order to restore peace in the community.

It also called on governor Abiodun to approve the Oba-Elect for the final ratification and installation.

The house however debunked rumour contained in a publication that the ruling house, Oloko family, presented Prince Azeez Idowu as the sole candidate of the family, who appears in the opinion of the family, most suitable to the kingmakers”.

The secretary of the ruling house, Temiladeb Adewale disclosed this in a release made available to news men in Abeokuta on Sunday.

”On behalf of Oloko Ruling House, we call on His Excellence Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun MFR, the Executive Governor of Ogun State to please intervene in the Ibese Obaship just like His Excellency did in Ipokia for instance, and other recently installed Obas in Yewa land that brought about instant peace in those communities.

”We also want to urge him to promptly take action on the Aboro of Ibese land Obaship by approving the Oba Elect for the final ratification and installation.

The release added that the report which contained in a blog known as Yewa Newsextra is nothing but blatant lie.

“Our attention has been drawn to the clandestine article purportedly written by the Oloko ruling House of Ibese in Yewa North Local Government to our amiable Governor of Ogun State Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun MFR.

”The said article was published in Yewa News Extra, an online publication (blog) on 30th September, 2020. In as much as we do not intend to join issue with anyone concerning the stool of Ibese, we owe it obligatory to debunk some of the lies, falsehood and mis-information contained therein and to correct them, more especially when the writer claimed that it is being written by OLOKO family.

”For the benefits of those who are not privy to the happenings and development of the obaship in Ibese Land, I Temilade Adewale, the Secretary of Oloko Ruling House of Ibese offers to take you down the memory lane and to acquit you with first hand information concerning the stool of Aboro of Ibese.

”I made bold to state categorically clear that there are two ruling houses in Ibese Land. These are Alangbo and Oloko Ruling Houses. The last Oba that demised in January 2017, Oba Joel Bamgbose was from Alangbo Ruling House.

”The demise of the Oba gave right to Oloko Ruling House to ascend the throne. The Oloko Ruling House comprises of Eleven families; these are Enitan family, Oje family, Ogunmodede family, Omiyale family, Taiwo family, and Ogunwemimo family. Others are Idowu, Adenle, bamkole, Aina and Abioye families.

”Following the demise of the late Aboro of Ibese, a directive vides CHM.4/7/336 dated 17 December, 2018 was issued out by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to the Yewa North Local Government directing the Afobajes (the King makers) to commence the
selection process of a new king, to be conducted in accordance with the chiefs’ law and laws of Ogun State.

”Sequel to this, the King makers notified us (i.e Oloko Ruling House) and requested us to produce a candidate for the stool. Prince Akeem Idowu, Prince Alexandra Idowu, Prince Yemi Idowu, Prince Azeez Idowu, Prince Mustapha Shuaib and Prince Rotimi Mulero were the contestants that initially indicated their interest for the stool.

” Series of meetings were held by the Oloko families to arrive at one candidate out of the six contestants but there was no result, as none of the contestants was ready to step down for another. After much persuasion, two of the contestants voluntarily withdrew from the race
(Prince Akeem Idowu and Prince Yemi Idowu) leaving four for the contest. These are Prince Alexandra Idowu, Prince Azeez Idowu, Prince
Mustapha Shuaib and Prince Rotimi Mulero.

”The last Oloko Ruling House meeting held on the issue was initiated, under the observance and supervision of the Chairman of the Local Government, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), other officials of the Local Government, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ayetoro, the State Security Service (SSS) Officers, the NSCDC officers and some other security personnel, on the 30th January 2019.

” The decision arrived at this meeting was that All the contestant’s names should be forwarded to the Kingmakers to select one out of them since the family could not arrived at one candidate.

”Consequent upon this, the Yewa North Local Government, acting on the directive of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs conveyed a meeting with the Kingmakers vides YNLG 5013/49 dated 8th March, 2019 with a view to select a candidate out of the four contestants vying for the stool.

”The selection process by the Kingmakers was held on the 25th March, 2019 under the observance and supervision of the Chairman of the Local Government, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), other officials of the Local Government, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ayetoro, the State Security Service (SSS) Officers, the NSCDC officers and some other security personnel.

”The remaining four kingmakers out of seven that make up Ibese Kingmakers (Three of them had joined their ancestors), under the chairmanship of Chief A. Adewuyi, the Somofe of Ibese land conducted an open ballot election for the four contestants and the outcome of the election produced Prince Rotimi Mulero as the candidate / Oba elect for the stool. Prince Rotimi Mulero pooled 3 votes while Prince Azeez Idowu had one vote.

”The rest two contestants had no vote. The election was held at the Yewa North Local Government secretariat, Ayetoro. Following this, a report was written by the Yewa North Local Government and sent to the Ministry of local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for further actions.

”The approval of the Oba elects by the State Government that would snowball into installation is now being awaiting. This is the fact and the development so far.
