Vocational education is a trade focused training that is targeted at giving a learner industry specific training. A typical vocational program will only have students taught in class for a few hours a week, the rest of the training is carried out in a company site or workshop. Employers value people with skilled trade education because they have practical training.

Examples of vocational training courses:
1. Hair and beauty therapy
2. Carpentry and furniture making
3. Plumbing
4. Electrical installation
5. Automotive (car) maintenance
6. Games development
7. Professional cookery/culinary Arts
Etc etc

People that study vocational courses or skilled trades (as they're called in Canada) find it much more easier to get a job and make money in developed countries. They are never out of job. Many even are able to start their own business and employ others. There is always demand for them.

In the UK, vocational courses can be level 3 or HNC (higher national certificate) and this is equivalent to the first year of a University degree.
They can also be. HND (higher national diploma) and this is equivalent to a year 2 in the University.
HNC are 1 year in duration while HND are 2 years in duration...both cost between £7,000 to £10,000 per year.

So after getting your level 3 or HNC or HND, you can immediately get into your desired career or you can top up your diploma with an extra 1 year (for HND holders) or 2years (for HNC holders) to earn a bachelors degree.
Bachelor's degree in the UK cost at least £10,000 to £15,000/ year...so obviously for someone with little money available the vocational course is an easier way to get a good education that will enable you get into a career faster.
