Head of Business Development – Job Scope
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Industry: Maritime Industry

Role
Seeking a Head of Business Development, with a focus on growing and developing the offshore
business, i.e. SAA, STS, Escorts, Dedicated etc., but not excluding pipelines or other onshore
projects where appropriate.

Candidate Attributes
1. The candidate should have prior experience of working within a PMSC, preferably within the
African, ideally Nigerian, market.
2. The candidate should have significant experience in a management position, ideally leading, in a
business development role.
3. The candidate should have an in-depth understanding of the PMSC market and preferably
understand the intricacies of the Nigerian market.
4. The candidate should have a proven track record of delivery i.e. growing clients and revenues.
5. The candidate should have, and be able to demonstrate, a varied and deep client contact base,
appropriate to the Company.
6. The candidate should have relationships with relevant international bodies and individuals e.g.
P&I clubs, shipping associations, international development bodies, governments etc.
7. The candidate should be willing to travel to meet with existing and potential new clients.
8. The candidate should have exceptional inter-personal skills.

Candidate / Role Expectations
1. Develop a company business development plan to achieve all business objectives within the
corporate vision, mission and strategy, implement all Technical Policies, Systems, Processes and
Procedures so that all Operational and Contract requirements are fulfilled while delivering a
quality service to customers
2. Develop plans and budgets for business development, including business forecasts, marketing,
client engagement and service delivery.
3. Oversee and control the implementation of the business development plan to ensure the business
objectives are achieved in line with the business strategy so that all resources are optimally
utilised and communication can take place in an efficient manner between the various
departments.
4. Work with other departments e.g. operations, engineering etc. to ensure smooth operations and
fulfilment of services to clients and to ensure the Company is able to fulfil client requests.
5. Liaise with, and manage client relationships and lead the Business Development team in client
engagement and servicing strategy.
6. Review and develop the CRM systems and client communication and marketing systems to
ensure maximum exposure / exploitation of client relationships.
7. Provide leadership to the Business Development Department – ensure that appropriate calibre of
human resources are attracted, engaged and retained, setting individual objectives, managing
performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and
appraisal – implementing all corporate HR systems and policies in order to maximise subordinate
and departmental performance in the pursuit of the Company business objectives.
8. Create and nurture a team based culture binding all the employees of the company in order to
encourage motivation and retention of employees.
9. Develop and monitor Business Development Department Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
10. Maintain an up to date understanding of client and regulatory requirements that could impact
client services e.g. ISO requirements, vessel specifications etc.
11. Negotiate and oversee contracts with clients.
12. Participate at various meetings and provides specialist advice, briefings and assistance to
management and other departments as required.
13. Provide regular briefs to management on any key developments that the business should be
aware of and that require attention of the wider business.
14. Provide regular updates on Business Development to senior management and the Board.

Salary: 3.6M - 4.8M
