And the child fell to his knees,
the flames once lit in his heart now embers gasping among the ashes,
slowly being snuffed out one by one.
Shut your eyes softly and exhale,
may you find blissful dreams far away from your cruel reality,
bright as the stars that light up the night sky,
falling to shield you from the cold,
while casting silhouettes of your lovely face.

My prayer of hope was once answered,
when you shone pure, as a novelty to this world,
with eyes blank yet so bright.
Even if every word of my endless orison falls back to the earth, shunned by the heavens,
I would make another prayer of hope,
that someday you would be embraced beside the warmth of a beating heart,
and those craven embers smothered by the pain,
would once more bloom into the flames of love.
