Kidnappers Abduct Fufu Sellers In Ogun, Demand ₦10 Million Ransom by Maxymilliano(m): 12:10pm On Feb 25, 2021
Kidnappers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have abducted two traders selling fufu, a staple food made from cassava, on the Ayetoro-Olorunda road in Imala, Abeokuta-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the abductors had demanded the sum of N5million ransom each from the victims.

Another source said the abductors had waylaid the traders on Saturday, at about 4:45 am in Iwofin, an area around Olorunda, kidnapping about five people including the driver of the vehicle, one Kamorudeen Olateju, and the traders.

The driver was reportedly abducted alongside one Ms Saidat Adediran and three other passengers.

The incident was said to have been reported at the Imala police divisional headquarters by two relatives of the abductees, Abubakar Olateju of Emado quarters and Kehinde Adediran, residing at Obon Oselu, all in Ayetoro.

A source said that the gunmen accosted the driver, who is also known as Charger, and whisked him away with the passengers.

Explaining further, the source said the two fufu traders produced the goods in wholesale and supply retailers at the market every market day.

According to the source, the kidnappers took advantage of the failed portion on the road as they emerged from the bush and took the two traders away.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday, confirmed the incident but said only two people were abducted.

Oyeyemi said the officers of the command had arrested one of the kidnappers.

When asked if the abductors were Fulani herdsmen, Oyeyemi said the suspect in the police custody “is a Fulani man.”

Criminals are not spirits. they are not ghost, they are our neighbors, they are our friends and relatives.

They live in the same Community as we do,

To change the country we must start from our villages and Community. when every Community is safe, nigeria would be safe.

Your community is supposed to be your Godfather, have your information and ready to back you up. your safety is the number one priority of your community.

Assume you were kidnapped from your community,
Your community is supposed to play the role of a Godfather, and ask other Godfather's (Community) for help to find you within their domain.

Or a case of a missing child or vehicle, The Godfather (Community) can talk to other Dons who will be alert for the missing child

Imagine they say we can't rent out this house to you until we know who you are, we don't know you. Then you mention whose umbrella covers you. You cannot dare mess up under his protection.

A community is like a Godfather, An isolated Godfather is a weak Godfather. But a Godfather with connection has influence. You can run but can't hide

The Nigerian ecosystem has been disrupted with these security challenges and may never come back to normal.

Who is safe these days? As long as our clueless government does not address the root causes of insecurity (unemployment, religious extremism, illiteracy and ignorance, hunger, marginalisation, corruption and dumbass leaders), it will only get worse.

Security goes beyond putting policemen and soldiers on checkpoints, or negotiating with terrorists. It doesn't even have to get to that point

The southern governors should rise to the occasion and deal ruthlessly with this criminals.

Enough of this silly national politics. When south east was the hot bed of kidnapping especially Abia, imo and anambra, I knew how T. A, Peter Obi and even rochas confronted the kingpins like osikankwu in Abia, vampire in imo and ofeakwu in anambra.

Why some people people in the North and certain people in the south west are playing to the gallery still amuse me.

Remember Evans was arrested and nobody from his tribe defended him.

Fufu challenge grin grin grin. Even if they sell them, they won’t reach the ten milla. Nigeria is going to the extreme where groundnut sellers, kulikuli trader, biscuits sellers etc would be abducted and milla be demanded from their families. On whose cross shall these fufu sellers rely on now?

Has the government accepted insecurity as part of our system?
It still hurts me that I'm filling unsafe in my own country and no one is bothered. Yet the keep they keep dishing out billions as security money.
