Last month, The Central Bank of Nigeria released a circular with a directive forbidding banks, non-bank financial institutions, and other financial institutions from facilitating payments for cryptocurrency exchanges. It ordered the immediate closure of accounts of persons or entities dealing in crypto exchanges, warning that non-compliance would attract ‘severe regulatory sanctions.
