A dismissed police corporal has been arrested after being seen in a CCTV footage stealing a phone which was being charged around the Police IRT Commander’s office.

The man has been identified as 37-year-old Daniel Aaron from Benue state. Upon being interrogated, he also revealed that his wife left him after he lost his job.

He further said that he was dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force after being involved in a case of accidental discharge in 2014.

When asked about the phone he stole, he said he sold it for N37,000 to one Abdul around Mararaba. He added that he sent part of the money to his family.

While the western countries have database that house the record of their citizens from infant to adult, right from kindergarten to college.

These tact records help them for background checks to ascertain the social fitness, job proficiency and true identity of the bearer. Our system in Nigeria is so archaic that the system we run in this part of the world does not have any record about its individual citizens.

I'm sure this rusticated officer wouldn't have gotten enlisted into any sensitive security agency if a thorough background check had been conducted on him during recruitment stage.

I'm not saying those western countries have a clean bill of health in sanitizing it's system of rogue elements, but it help them keep those with questionable past/characters at bay.
