That's the nature of belief. As long as it has been said by someone who is believed to be an authority, (in this case Nnamdi Kanu, who is followers belief to be a supreme leader, the very image of god, their teacher etc), they will believe it unquestioning.

Another is that when a lie is repeatedly severally, it becomes the truth. Because we have evolved to have a mind that is designed for internal consistency, not rationality or logic. A human mind cannot differentiate between what is repeatedly 3 times by the same person and what is said by 3 different people.

Another important thing is that irrespective of how wrong it is and even when Nnamdi Kanu knows he is wrong, he is still going to repeat the lie than face he shame and embarrassment from his followers who have began to see as someone more than ordinary that can make mistakes.
