NPFL: Rivers United submits petition against Jigawa

Rivers United Football Club has officially petitioned the League Management Company (LMC) over the use of an ineligible player in the club’s matchday 34 encounter with Jigawa Golden Stars in Kaduna, according to the Rivers Commissioner for Sports Boma Iyaye.

Jigawa Golden Stars had featured one Christopher Richard in the NPFL fixture despite being informed by the LMC prior to the encounter that he was not eligible to play having accumulated five yellow cards.

According to LMC guidelines for the league, “if it is established that, a team intentionally featured a player who had earlier received five (5) yellow cards or red card before the match in question, the affected team will lose three points three goals to its opponent.”

Iyaye, who stated this at the side-line of Rivers United match against FC Ifeanyi Ubah in Port Harcourt, called on the LMC to do justice to the petition to further restore clubs, administrators and football fans’ confidence in the league.

“This is a straight forward issue that requires no long stories. The LMC is well aware of the case in question and even wrote the club, informing them of the player’s ineligibility, but Jigawa still went ahead and used him.

“We do not want to believe that the LMC will allow its image to be rubbished over a matter that is so easy to judge and sanction. As a club, Rivers United has played by the rule book and we expect same to apply in this case.

“The NPFL season is running smoothly; the LMC should not mar its own achievements by inviting unnecessary backlash from various football stakeholders within and outside Nigeria,” he stated.

Match 32, rivers utd against akwa utd, something funny happened in the deing minutes. Linesman raise flag against akwa utd player after he won a clear cut challenge and was heading to score xos he was one on one with the goalkeeper. Even the spectators were alarmed and amazed what the flag was for..
Kano pillars against dakkada, dakkada scored a clear goal from set piece, linesman ruled it out for offside. The replay showed otherwise.
Npfl really need to work on their officials and if possible sanctions should be meted to those who intentionally or purposely make teams lose games.

the lmc should do the needful by awarding 3 points 3 goals to rivers united in order not to tarnish what is left of the image of nigeria football

caf did thesame to super eagles by awarding 3 points and 3 goals to algeria when nigeria fielded shehu sani in a world cup qualifier against algeria in algiers after the game ended in a stalemate

Very good example

Hope the LMC will take a cue from that Algerian scenario

This same Akwa Utd that is about to win the league is also involved in all these things.

Out of four matches in which the officials were suspended just few days ago for bad officiating, two were Akwa Utd home matches.

By all means win at home syndrome

Last Sunday

Enyinba vs MFM. Was 1 - 1 at 90 minutes

But the match was dragged to 98 minutes. End was ended when enyimba scored at 95 minutes

Finals score. Enyimba 2 - 1 MFM

Baba it's not true.

I was at the stadium live and only 5 minutes was added. If you see the kind of delay tactics that MFM employed ehnn, they were even supposed to add like 8 minutes. Even, a clean Enyimba goal was disallowed about 89th minute.

Aba fans that normally cheer the away team when they play well were even frustrated by the antics of MFM. The same Aba fans all stood up and cheered Jigawa Stars the previous weekend when they scored first against Enyimba in Aba. MFM is a good side but all those unnecessary delay tactics doesn't encourage good football. Enyimba's second goal in added time was a very good goal and they mounted serious pressure on MFM before the goal came.

You can ask anybody about what I wrote here or you try and watch the video.

It wasn't done INTENTIONALLY

See loop hole in the law sef

What are you saying only 5 minutes?

Haba

That match ended at 98 minutes

Enyimba scored at 95 minutes

Of course MFM tactics is not new in football, even Chelsea use to park the bus to win a game

Let alone MFM ? Even you will delay to get that one point

This is not about parking the bus. It's about falling down when nobody touches you. A keeper will pass ball to his defender and fall down and they will spend two minutes treating him. When did Chelsea do that?

If the official added time is 5 mins and you spend 3 mins treating players, are they not going to add more time? The official added time is the minimum time they can play. It may not be the maximum. Enyimba scored in the 95th minute which is within the official added time. The fact that the ref even added three more minutes is to the disadvantage of Enyimba.
