A lecturer in the department Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Engr. Dr. Chizoo Esonye has emerged 2nd in the 2021 National Academic Publication Competition for academic staff of Faculties of Engineering and Technology in Nigeria.

The competition which was organized under the auspices of Committee of Deans of Faculties of Engineering and Technology (CODET) in Nigeria saw academics from about 38 tertiary institutions within and outside the country participating, with Esonye clinching the 2nd position with an average score of 86.5%.

His research paper titled “Multi –Input Multi-Output (MIMO) ANN and Nelder-Meads’s Simplex Based Modeling of Engine Performance and Combustion Emission Characteristics of Biodiesel-diesel Blend in CI Diesel Engine” was co-authored with Okechukwu Dominic Onukwuli, Akuzuo Uwaoma Ofoefule and Ekechi Ogah Ogah but he is the lead author. Esionye and his team of researchers will receive the award later this year in Abuja.



While congratulating Esonye on his achievement, the Vice-Chancellor,Prof. Sunday Elom, noted that the University is interested in production-led research. He therefore challenged the institution’s academics to embark on research that will provide solutions to the myriad of problems confronting the world.

He also assured them of his commitment and support in making sure that the University justifies its existence by impacting positively on her immediate community and beyond through her research output.
