Hello,

Those of you who browse this forum from your offices must have noticed that the site is very unstable in the afternoons. Between 2pm and 4pm in particular, it becomes almost impossible to submit a post. This has been going on every afternoon for a month or two, and for a long while I wasn't able to do much about it.

Here's some good news: this week month, I will be working on a permanent solution to the problem. Due to this, the site may be completely down for about an hour at two different times, and you may be unable to post during another 24 hour period. At the end of this process, I expect the site to work perfectly.

I'm not sure about this, but the very popular Unread Replies function is likely to work more reliably after this.

The site was down very recently for about 30 minutes. No, that wasn't it. That was just a freak error. Sorry.

Major update: I'm no longer fully convinced that this process will lead to increased site performance.
We'll just have to proceed with it and cross our fingers. If it works, yay. If not, nay!

I think this might be the best time to go ahead and perform the major step in the maintenance process.
I'll have to disable posting for a while. Be warned: this might last for up to 24 hours. Many apologies.

Seun, look to be more serious we want the best for/on nairaland, but 24hours during a weekend , that is please don't do that, how do you want people like me who are "single, lonely but may not be searching" who hides under work consolation during the week and spices their weekend with nairaland to cope? If there is a technological magic like RAID or Hard drive mirror,then kindly adopt that and keep this blood flowing without much interruption.
