Is Allison-Madueke the most suitable person for the job?  NO!  She's an architect by profession and was the public affairs division of SHELL!  Tell me where the technical expertise is coming from?
The facts remain that our refineries are in comatose!  Call anybody you know in any of the refineries and you will get authentic info.  What they are presently doing is massive importation of refined products.  But at what cost? At the cost of the economy and our foreign reserves!  It will have a spiral effect, The other day the President wanted the cement producers/re-baggers to reduce the price of a bag and they told him that high price of cement is as a result of the cost of diesel which their plants run on!  CHIKENA!  A litre of diesel is about N170!  The 20kva diesel generator which a family uses consumes about 10ltrs of diesel per hour. JUST IMAGE WHAT A 200KVA GENERATOR WILL BE CONSUMING DAILY IN A FACTORY! People just come online and peddle lies just to convince ignorant people.

After politicking comes WORK!  Work has just started, let's see how they are going to sustain the sham that is going on!

gist4real:

Let forget all these lies this is the fact:
Diesel now sells for N165 per liter. Kerosene is not even available. There is still looooooooooooooong queues in warri and parts of Abuja. OP might want to verify.

There are no queues in Abuja. That is highly inaccurate.

I see a lot of comments on kerosene and diesel. I think both products are deregulated ( kerosene I believe is partially deregulated). There are no known issues with cooking gas.

debosky:

The refineries have NOT been 'revitalised', as of December 2010, NONE of them were working due to multiple pipeline vandalisation, some even occurring on a weekly basis in Port Harcourt, so I see absolutely no achievement there.

Any responsive organisation/minister would have a specialised pipeline repair team on standby to repair vital pipelines to the refineries, not waiting 18-24 months to do repairs.
Any references?

debosky:

PIB was not Allison's idea at all, it was initiated by Rilwan Lukman, who devised the bill along with the reorganisation of the NNPC into a focused oil producing company to give it teeth to one day become like Petrobras and Statoil.

This same Allison Diezani has been implicated as being one of the Shell informants in government that are working to frustrate the PIB bill that Yar'adua initiated. The bill has subsequently been watered down to meet the desires of the IOCs, and yet has not been passed.
No where in the article does it say that she initiated the PIB bill. This is the exact quote "the push for the passage of Petroleum Industry Bill". Claims that she watered down the bill is preposterous. Normally companies that would be affected by the legislation are called to give their input. This was going on before Mrs Alision-Madueke. For crying out loud that bill had been in the committees of House of Reps and the Senate for 2 years now. Meanwhile, how many petroleum related bills were passed under 3 years of Yar'adua? Make I hear word jare.

debosky:

Simply engaging in massive importation of petroleum products is not much of an achievement in my view.
Before - Long fuel queues, night vigil held at filling stations, black marketing, hoarding, scarcity lasted for weeks, pump prices were higher than regulated price, adulteration of product and explosions etc
Now thanks to Mrs Alison-Madueke - No fuel queues, availability of product, product sold at regulated price in every station etc.

What were you saying again

debosky:

I am highly sceptical of the claims of improving gas supply - everyone knows that these projects take time to execute, and most of them were already in progress, so coming to commission existing projects, some of which were started when OBJ was in government (but delayed by unrest in the Delta) is misleading at best and outright dishonest at worst.
Oga she initiated the Gas revolution plan and these things take time. The fact she can initiate a long term plan for the benefit of Nigeria says a lot about her approach. Short term she has removed scarcity of fuel; introduced gas pricing as an incentive for investment. Long term she is creating a gas industry that would be larger than the oil industry and create jobs; more refineries are being built etc. Skepticism is expected because we have been failed so many times before but lets put things in context. We have seen her delivery.

debosky:

To hear another opinion beyond the blatant propaganda in the source article, read below

http://www.punchontheweb.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20110524383568

She has twice been indicted by the Senate for fraud. The first was in 2008 and the indictment was about ‘irresponsible and reckless’ spending concerning the illegal transfer of $263m, from the account of the ministry within just three days - December 26-31, 2007.

The second indictment came less than two years after the first probe. In October 2009, the Senate indicted her and recommended that she be tried for allegedly transferring N1.2bn of a toll company into her private account without due process and in breach of concession agreement.

The transfer at December 2007 was found after investigation to be payments made to contractors being owed by the govt. These monies had been long approved. The 2nd indictment is at best smear campaign and at worst false. She was not in the ministry of transport at the time but was the Minister of mines and steel so had nothing to do with toll gates. It will be logically impossible for her to have any control over the accounts of the ministry of transport when she was relieved of that position more than a year (June 2008) before the incident. Isn't it strange that she was indicted in October 2009 and then confirmed in April 2010 by the same senate?

Didn't know all that was achieved. But for a fact I know that the fuel queues are gone. That's two thumbs up

I'm sure we were talkn abt fuel wat is dis pornodude talkn about? How does any of that affect the petroleum minister

Nigeria Nigeria,  where little is Good enough we give National Awards to someone just for ding his or her job

Allison Madueke is GEJ's lap doll "soki foki" and her hasband knows dat as long as he's bn sorted out.

In the history of that parastatal, i have never knows any Petroleum Minister so openly corrupt, ever.

b4 you do anything u must free her something, wetin, na so so consultancy with nothing to show for it

Petrol queues are disspearing but the Minister is getting fatter in the Bank account. Clap 4 yourselves,

Re: Fuel Scarcity And The State Of Our Petroleum Sector by JimmyBoy1: 11:23am On Jun 01, 2011
Common folks do not understand all these english you guys are writting here,  Mama Ruka  the Boli seller  will continue to score this administration  low as long as she buys kerosene for  N150/Litre.

'Roadmap' to this and that does not mean anything to common folks, they judge by what they can see and touch, so we should stop all this lies and tell GEJ the truth instead of this annoying praise singing.

.
Malnourishment still kills a lot of children on a daily basis.
2. There is no healthcare insurance that covers about 90% of the population.
3. Educational system and ministry is in tatters.
4. Unemployment rate is more than 30%.
5. The country's total power supply output can only supply roughly 10% of the nation.
6. Portable water is a pipedream.
7. Crime rates seem to skyrocket by the day.
8. Corruption by the elected leaders still goes unchecked n unhampered, hence impoverishing the country.
Going by these and many more, it is clear to see that all the above achievements are but a flash in the pan.
This is my 2kobo.

Pls dont be offended I think this thread is about Petroleum why not just stay within the thread rather than digressing to broader issue. And beside for God sake Jonathan is not angel or God to do within a year a contry that has be crippled since early 80's please let us be reasonable in our way of thinking. Dont we know how many president were there before Jonathan for years in office were they able to deliver anything NO in capital.

Anyway that apart I think they did well in petroleum sector at least the scarcity was reduced to a greater level than what it used to be in the past administration this is just my own view.

A simple class in comprehension will help your plight. Where did I say someone else reduce petroleum price? Nigerians have to be more intelligent than this.

Diesel is deregulated.

Kerosene is N50 per litre. Just read on another thread about women in warri celebrating about it.

In what other regime did we have the same availability of fuel we enjoy now?

People get moved forward, applauded or recommended because they did their job. Wats wrong with that? A lot of people are employed to do theirs and do not. As a staff don't u feel some form of thanks/ gratitude is in order wen u do sumthn others thot cldnt ße done or didn't want 2do hello??

Why are we so quick to judge all the ministers or people in power? 90% of the populace given d same opportunity will chop and clean mouth so abeg make nobody drop any holier than thou line 4here.

People have inflated costs in their offices & homes n think its okay and try to make a case that sum1 is choppin Nigeria's money. Abeg abeg abeg.

Going forward if you hav a problem wit the president or the ministers then write out Uя probable solutions. He is on facebook & twitter and so are a lot of them. Let us help build not help pull down. We are so eager to find out wat they are doin wrong wat kind of mentality is that?

Are der still fuel queues like there used to be the answer is №! Hav there been ministers before now yes was der scarcity at d time yes. So diesel is high and kerosene is high has d price of garri reduced?? Where in d world do u know that the price of a product that is in high demand 4yrs ago is still the same? Even ticket to afganistan has increased.

They are not perfect and neither are you. They are tryn and we will get there. It may not be 2moro but if they keep at it they will.
Re: Fuel Scarcity And The State Of Our Petroleum Sector by osoisi: 11:06pm On Jun 01, 2011
I like the very basic of things. We used to groan in fuel queues and now we dont. These people definitely did something right.

Mrs Allison is never in d country. She is always travelling. Everything grinds 2 a halt when she is not around cos she wants 2 be d one approving everything. Ask people who work in her ministry n dey will tell u so. She is so inefficient.

When you go to the gas station to refill your tank, do you need her to approve the sales or do you need to ask the "people who work in her ministry"?

If she travels as much as you (or your imaginary friends) insinuate, how come product availability does not "grind to a halt" each all the time?

In her so called "inefficiencies" she has achieved with fuel within a year more than any other in her position has done in 18years.
