Italian police took full advantage of one of their supercars to deliver a kidney for a life-saving transplant.

Reaching speeds of up to 230kph (143mph) officers drove their blue and white-coloured Lamborghini Huracian LP610-4 from the northern town of Padova, 500 kilometres (310 miles) down south to a hospital in Rome.

The officers had left at 10.30am in the morning and they arrived two hours later a journey that would normally take about six hours.

The police department had answered the call for help as local authorities found themselves unable to deliver the organ quickly enough.

They managed to get the kidney there on time to doctors desperately waiting to carry out surgery on a patient.

The primary function of the police Lamborghini is to move transplant organs, plasma and vaccines across the country and not get involved in high-speed car chases.

It can go from 0-100 kph (0-62mph) in only 3.2 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 325 kph (201 mph).

It is also equipped with a special cold box to transport organs.

The Huracian is also personalised for the force with an onboard computer and cameras.

Nice one! That's a country where human lives matters! So, their police have an express logistics dept INORDER TO SAVE LIVES! MHEEN! NIGERIA IS VERY WAY BEHIND!

If only we know we can live a normal life with one kidney, we won't be wallowing in poverty.
