Did you know poop from the Burj Khalifa is trucked out?

One would think that the world’s tallest building – a structure that requires amazingly complex engineering and technology to reach its heights – would have an equally impressive sewage system.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case with the Burj Khalifa, because it isn’t hooked up to a municipal wastewater treatment system – so when people excrete in the Burj Khalifa, that waste is actually transported out of the city. More like trucked out of the city! Its quite flabbergasting to behold the inefficiency of such a complex system.

One of the world’s most advanced buildings relies on such an arcane method to transport wastewater to a treatment facility outside of town. So bear in mind, if you happen to visit and use the Burj Khalifa’s restroom, someone would have to collect your poop and drive it out of Dubai.

The expression Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), is a globally accepted tool used by environmental experts to systematically assess the cause-effect relationship between development activities and environmental sustainability as man continues his widespread and almost unabated development of his immediate environment.
