HOW TO KNOW THE RIGHT PRODUCT TO SELL

The most painful mistake any salesperson makes is jumping into a swimming pool that has no water in it: namely, trying to sell something that nobody wants to buy.

It is actually simply to know the right product to sell if you understand this trick - Rack the Shotgun
Taking a cue from gambling, the first lesson about gambling is, you have to play games you can win. Invariably, you need to play people who are not as good at poker as you are.

Selling to the right person is more important than all the sales methods, the wrong person doesn’t have the money, or the wrong person doesn’t care. The wrong person won’t be persuaded by anything.

What does it mean to rack that shotgun?

It means to send one calculated signal that most ignore, but a few respond to. The few that desperately need your product.
You might not even have to make that move yourself. Someone else can rack the shotgun—you just have to watch.

For instance, 50 people in the club; and a shotgun is racked (gun cocked), 10 heard the shotgun sound, 40 didn’t. The 10 people that turned around at the sound of the gun are experienced with guns while the 40 who didn’t notice the sound are amateurs. Fastest way to separate the amateurs from the pros.

In sales, before you bet your precious time or money on any product, you need to rack the shotgun. Rack the shotgun to know the number of people that responded to your signal.

If you’ve racked the shotgun by offering, say, a troubleshooting guide, and 50 people have turned their heads by requesting it, you can rack a different kind of shotgun—like offering a live training workshop. This narrows your 50 down to 10 hyper-responsive targets who will carry you farther than the other 40 combined.

For example if you want to import a particular item, and you want to determine if it is the right product, you can rack the shotgun by placing an ad for the product on UseSafeBuy.com (a free online marketing platform that connects buyers to sellers) and see the response rate. You can be more efficient by making a payment subscription of 2,000 (two thousand naira) for a week on UseSafeBuy.com to ensure that your product is on the front page of the website and is well engaged. With this approach you have racked the shotgun through UseSafeBuy.com to estimate potential buyers.

The higher the response rate, the more likely your potential product will do well and vice versa.

HOW TO KNOW THE RIGHT CUSTOMER TO SELL TO

Putting all your eggs in one basket is a lousy long-term plan. But spreading yourself too thin is just as bad.

Most direct- and online-marketing success stories I’ve seen over the last 10 years have this in common: They became extremely proficient at the use of ONE sales channel and used it to develop a firm foothold in a desperately competitive marketplace.

One of your highest aspirations as a marketer should be becoming the alchemist who crafts endlessly irresistible offers, such that people spend a disproportionate amount of money with you. Not only do they buy from you instead of anybody else, they spend far more buying your kind of thing than anyone might have ever expected.

Here’s a little marketing secret for you: Almost everybody has at least one passion, one interest, one obsession where they’ll gleefully spend irrational amounts of money. For some it’s makeup or shoes. For some it’s rock concerts. For some it’s bowling. For some it’s bird watching. For some it’s skiing.

A lot of sports are characterized by this kind of hyper-responsive behaviour. You will agree with me that it will be easy selling Chelsea jerseys and kits to a Chelsea supporter than trying to selling him an Arsenal jersey. Golfers are notorious for being maniacs, and I know a lot of marketers who’ve made fortunes selling golf products. Wherever there are rabid, obsessive customers, there’s a great business.

You can get complete eBook on UseSafeBuy.com. UseSafeBuy.com is a website that connects buyers to sellers for free. If you are a seller that wants to sell like a pro, you might consider joining them.
