Job Interview by Searchingvictor: 9:30pm On Dec 14, 2021
Evening to everyone. I have a question for employers of labor

For instance, If 2 candidates of same field, and were mates came for an interview for same position and one scored higher than the other but the one with the higher score graduated with 2 2 and the other person with lower score graduated with 2 1

In their oral interview, the one with 2 2 still beat the other person with 2 1

Who will you consider for the job?

The one who performed better in the interview should get the job.

You interviewed them because they were both qualified so the interview should be the major yardstick.

The 2 2 guy, of course.
Class of degree doesn't matter in my organization. I will only employ you based on your performance and not your class of degree.

Nigeria and their 2 1 , 2 2 mentality.

The one with 2.2 unless the cut off is 2.1
Re: Job Interview by cinoedhunter: 9:44pm On Dec 14, 2021
>: angry Why would I employ a 2,1 when a graduate with pass even scored higher than him in a job interview? It means the employer is more interested in the certificate and shouldn't have even called the 2'2 for an interview and assessment.

The average Nigerian boss will select the one from his tribe, if both are from his tribe, then he'll select the one from his state, if both of them are from his state, he'll select the one from his local government area.

If none of the candidates are either from his tribe, then he'll pick the the one he shares the same religion with.

That's how it has always been in UAR.

This I have seen.

Who will you consider for the job?
Only archaic employers still think about certificates and grades.
Modern employers think about problems they have and who'll solve them.
Who cares about your first class!
You have a first class and so?
What ideas do you have that'll help me grow my company?
There's a difference between qualification and certification.
Someone who's certified is supposed to be able to do the job.
Someone who's qualified is able to do the job.
If you were an employer, who would you choose?

As an HR Practitioner, Your Class of degree can't be compared with your competencies,
In recruiting, I consider the job description for the said role and chose a sound and suitable candidate base on competencies, morals, core value, what they stand to give in to my organization at the point of interview and so on.

The one with connection will get the Job.
In the case of ladies, If they both don't have connection, the most beautiful one will get the job.
Then for men without connection, the 2.2 guy.

You're welcome.

Re: Job Interview by Nobody: 11:46pm On Dec 14, 2021
There are other things being considered. It doesn't matter who came ist or 2nd.
1). Who can do the job perfectly with little or no supervision. Here u can ans questions correctly but may not have handled such positions b4 or composure/leadership quality may not be there.
2). Previous work experiences and job/positions handled.
3). Salary limit
4). Training & retraining. Are u trainable? Can u also train other people.
5). Appearance. Do u look smart. The way u look is how outsiders see the company.
6). Location where u live currently. Can u be able to come to work on time.
7). Respect & loyalty to code of company's conduct. Now ur appearance and the way u speak is a tip to that.
cool. Durability in the company. Can you be able to stay and work or u will soon leave them.
9). etc

When I worked in a consulting firm, after concluding interview on behalf of our client, we compile list of employable applicants and back it up with a report. It is left for the company (our client) to select whom they like based on their personal interaction/judgment on them.
All we know is that the people that made the list can do the job well. The list will start with candidate with highest score.
