O.J. Simpson Is 'a Completely Free Man' After Being Discharged from Parole Early in Nevada.

Simpson had been on parole since October 2017 following his release from prison for armed robbery and kidnapping.

The former NFL star, 74, was discharged from parole effective Dec. 6 — more than two months earlier than expected, a spokesperson for the Nevada Department of Public Safety confirmed to PEOPLE.

His parole term would have otherwise expired on February 9, 2022, the spokesperson said.

Simpson, who was acquitted in the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, but served nine years for a kidnapping and armed robbery in Las Vegas after being charged with another separate crime.

Simpson was convicted in 2008. He was arrested on Sept. 16, 2007, only three days after authorities said he and five other men went to a Las Vegas hotel to rob two sports memorabilia dealers.

Simpson was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, but he did spent nine years in prison in Las Vegas for abduction and armed robbery after being charged with another crime.
In 2008, Simpson was found guilty. Only three days after investigators say he and five other guys traveled to a Las Vegas casino, he was detained.

The victims, many of whom were related to the Heisman Trophy winner, were persuaded to believe that a potential buyer was coming to their casino hotel room to look at their valuables. Simpson and his colleagues, two of whom were armed, rushed into the room, crammed the artifacts into pillowcases, and left, according to officials.

According to the Associated Press, since his release from prison, Simpson has remained in Las Vegas, where he lives in a gated golf enclave. "Life is fine," Simpson told the news outlet in 2019.

He also revealed that he and his two children with Brown, Justin, 33, do not discuss Brown's death.

"There's no need for us to relive the worst day of our life." "The topic of the time is a topic I will never return to," he remarked. "My family and I have progressed to what we refer to as the 'no negative' stage."
