What Is A Blog?

A blog is a website that hosts important data in texts format, it may also contain other data such as images, gifs, etc. just so its message is being passed across. A blogger runs a blog. A blog cannot function without a website. And by this I mean before you setup a blog, you’ll need to purchase a domain name and a hosting plan. Read: full guide to setting up a blog. A blog is also a place where you get meaningful information’s on daily basis.

What is Vlog?

A vlog is a means of sharing information via video coverage, a vlog stands for Video log. In setting up a vlog, you’ll need tools like a microphone, a camera / mobile phone, an editing machine (a pc) and a software. You can setup a vlog on premade platforms such as YouTube, Tick tock etc. a vlog content also needs to be properly edited before finally publishing online.
Similarities between Blog and Vlog?
They are both online events: They both need to undergo final publishing before others can access them via different platforms
Proper editing must be done: A Blog or vlog must be properly edited before final uploading on the website or different platforms.

Differences between blog and vlog?

Let’s quickly talk about the main differences between a Blog and a Vlog.

• A blog deals mostly in texts and images, while a vlog deals mainly in video coverages and live feeds.
• A blog supports platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomal, Blogger, wix etc.
• You cannot setup a blog without a website, but you can easily setup a vlog without a website via platforms such as YouTube, Tick tock, Facebook etc.
• A blog was introduced in the year 1990 but later became established in the year 2003. A vlog dated as far back as 2000 but grew viral in the year 2004.
• A blog gives you room to express yourself in writing, while a vlog makes you feel the true sense of connecting with your audience.
• A vlog gives your audience space to connect with you e.g. live broadcasts.
• A blogger runs a blog, a vlogger runs a vlog.

Which one pays more?
Studies have shown that an average blogger earns nothing less than 30,000$ a year, which is a fair price. A vlogger or you tuber has been said to earn 35 - 47,000$ a year. Although, these figures are not fixed, because we have also recorded cases of bloggers earning 1000$ a month- so it’s still all based on hard work and consistency.
So when choosing what you’d like to venture into, I suggest you go for what suits your budget. If getting the tools to set up a vlog is quite expensive, you can output for blogging and then with time, dive into vlogging, and who says you can’t do both?
